Which Park in the Rain?

Well, they are predicting a 60% chance of rain for the day next week we were planning on going to AK & MGM. And it doesn't look like a passing shower either - looks like steady rain. Are these parks a bust in the rain? Should we plan to do something else? Would love to hear others rain experiences. Thanks!!!

We did AK in the pouring rain one year. It was a lot of fun! We wore ponchos and that made things a lot easier. We rode Kali River Rapids a couple times in a row. We were already wet so no big deal. The park started to clear out but the rides were still operating. We were there for a couple of hours and when we got tired of it we left and had lunch at Rainforest. It was a fun day!

Magic Kingdom is ok during the rain, however this time of year, it will be a cold rain. My feeling is Epcot is the better park for rain. You spend more time in the buildings than at any other park and all the rides and attractions are indoors. You would have to walk outside to get to each building, but once there, you could spend at least an hour in it. Dry off, enjoy the building, get wet, dry off in the next building and so on...

We like MGM in the rain, lots indoors, and easy to find shelter

Wow! Thanks everyone! Sounds like we will have fun whether it rains or not! Love the Kali River Rapids story!! Might as well get soaked! We'll wear some ponchos and go to it! Thanks again, everyone!

A cast member once suggested AK for rainy days. In addition to the Kali thing, they said that there were a lot more animals out on the safari in the rain because the animals liked it. The advice was, I believe, to "put on the panchos, suck it up, plan on getting wet, and have a great time at AK" (I'm paraphrasing a little there). That can be pretty hard to do though, especially with little kids.

We went to Epcot in June when they had a tropical system hitting the panhandle. Epcot is great because of all the pavillions to escape to from the rain...but I imagine that all the parks have their pros and cons when it comes to the rain.

I have done AK in the rain 2 times. There are a ton of shows and CS restaurants to keep you out of the rain. The safari is great in the rain. Dionsaur is inside :cool1: , the Jungle trek is under heavy tree growth, so not too bad. And Kali was fine too. I bring ponchos and umbrellas(from dollar store). In a back pack I put (dry socks or a 2nd pr of sandlas, shirt, and a sweater put in a plastic shopping bag...to keep the dry stuf dry and the wet stuff together when you change) you can check it in a locker or carry it with you. This way if it does stop, or if you do go into Rainforest you have some dry clothes and you will feel better.

I totally disagree. Don't do Epcot in the rain. FutureW would be ok, BUT the bldgs can be farther apart. The countries are much more fun in good weather, b/c all the street performers are out.
We have the rain curse at Epcot. I would like to have 2 leisurely rain-free days to actually experience it right! LOL

My vote would be MGM. Just about everything is indoors, except the stunt shows.
Maybe the rain will come at night, or early in the am. That happens sometimes! :) Have fun.

We like AK and MGM in the rain. Once you are wet, the degree of wetness doesn't matter after a while. We just try to have fun and enjoy ourselves no matter what.
