Which parades and fireworks are ever cancelled?

When the afternoon storms roll in do the parks delay the start of a parade or do they just cancel.

Also what about the fireworks. Are some more likely to be affected than others?

Any of them can be cancelled, but Fantasmic! is the one most likely to be cancelled due to weather.

Regarding Fantasmic, high winds alone are enough to cancel this without there being any rain. I think the same is true of Illuminations.

We were in the MK in Dec. 2005. On one of weekdays the 3:00PM parade was cancelled due to a downpour. If memory serves correctly they waited a couple of minutes to see if the rain would stop before they cancelled. Also (same week) during Fantasmic they announced they may have to cancel due to rain. Luckily for us this did not happen - rain stopped.

we have been there when Fantamic was cancelled twice in one week due to rain, but we watched Illuminations during a cold downpour from the covered deck in Japan, and we watched it on a very windy night too! We tried to wait out the start of Wishes on a cold, rainy night at MK but our kids were cold and crabby. We opted to head back to our resort, so sad as we never got to see Wishes last trip. So that is a must for us next week when we return! :)

If they say it's cancelled make sure it really *is* cancelled! Last June we had a heavy thunderstorm one day and we had reservations for the Rose & Crown that evening, planning to watch Illuminations afterwards. We checked with guest services from our room (POFQ) and they said Illuminations was cancelled. We were in two minds about whether to go to the R&C or not but we thought hey, we're hungry. We went and Illuminations was on. The servers said Guest Services often tell people Illuminations is cancelled when the weather is bad but often, it goes ahead anyway.

Spectro can be cancelled, or delayed, and then it is really sad. Went last year, big downpour at 9 pm, waited for the 10 pm parade, finally showed up at 11, with only half of the floats, and hardly any of the characters...some floats went by with no one on them. Very sad. If we had known the parade would have been so lacking, we wouldn't have stayed. It was hard to see my favorite parade so empty and half-done. :(

Yes, we've seen IllumiNations on VERY windy nights.
Under windy coinditions, they do usually delete firing the "ring" of fireworks (that are fired from the outer edges of the WS lagoon) that comes near the end of the main show and again during the "We'll Go On" Finale.

Fantasmic! is cancelled mainly to to LIGHTNING STRIKE possiblities in the area.
Wind can be problematic, but lightning can be deadly.
They even have a pre-recorded annoucement at Fantasmic! that asks for guests to "lower their umbrellas" (not use them) due to the possibility of attracting a lightning bolt.

In recent times, there is the possiblilty that if Fantasmic! is cancelled, they will present "Fantasmic! LIGHT" which is ONLY the Fireworks.
They are set off to an abbreviated music track.

Once loaded, the fireworks can't be "un-loaded" and used at a future show.
They need to be fired.
They used to just "empty the theater" after a cancelled show, and then fire-off the fireworks with only a few CMs to see them.
Now (at last count, anyway), they run the fireworks so that anyone left at the theater (still hoping for the possibility of a show) can see them.
