I am looking for a nice Hotel offsite, that has good transportation to WDW, and doesn't cost $$$$. Any ideas?

most off-site hotels provide transportation...just not as frequent. try the hilton in DTD...they provide transportation and the EE.

most hotels offer 2 rides in the morning and 2 or 3 in the evening.

some say that they come every hour - but others here have say that they waited more than an hour at the parks and the buses did not come - they took a taxis back to their hotel room.

if you are planning on not having a car - how about one of the value resorts at WDW - Pop Century, All Stars with the new discount you can get one for $64 per night including taxes. I think it is really $63.19.

you are really better off if you get a car - then you can stay off-site and really save money by eating off-site. WDW is very expensive place to eat at.

I agree! Offsite transport puts you at the mercy of the shuttles schedules... Go for the value resort, busses will come every 20 mins or so. Either that, or be prepared to tour by the shuttles schedules, and most likely be packed into the bus like sardines (sweaty smelly ones at that)

Stay on site (value resort) or at least DTD. Off site shuttles are limited, may share service with other hotels, may require a reservation the night before, may not run extra buses when the bus is full and a free shuttle when you reserve may be a shuttle that is charged for (or included in a resort fee) when you arrive. People who rely on off site shuttles inevitably wind up having to supplement the buses with taxis.

If you have to be off site you really should rent a car. A car for a week might not cost that much more than airport transfers.

following on from my post above the reason why I ask about the onsite hotels is because I am going to Orlando at the end of the month and thinking of staying at a budget hotel on Int drive

In terms of getting to the parks at a decent hour- do I rely on the hotel transport? or do I rent car for the time that I am there?

how often does transport from I drive (either with hotel or independent buses) go to the parks. I want to for example come back to the hotel after a day at disney and then go back in the evening for the illuminations etc.....- is the tramsport flexible

alternative option is to stay on site- but I am only spending 3 days at wdw and then 3 days at universal / IOA / SW

Any recommendations- also worst case what does a taxi from a park to the middel of I Drive cost?

go look on 'http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html'

the discount rate is $55 with taxes it is $63.19

i see the code- do Ijust call the hotel and state this code to get the discount or is there somewhere to book online

can I also do this if I am a UK citizen?

I want to repeat that the DTD hotels have good transportation. Their buses run all day at scheduled times. I've stayed at the old Marriott (now Holiday Inn) and had great trips. With multiday passes you can use Disney transportation, so sometimes we'd take buses to DTD and walk to the hotel.

We do like to rent a car--like to go off-site for food, groceries, etc. But Pop Century seems to have good bus transportation. We only used it for MK and an enight in August, but it was great.

Mike - I don't know - this is the phone number, have the code and call them - I think you can use it - but I am not sure about the exchange rate...

Thanks spicey cat- which is the best of the allstar resorts- music, movie or sports?

I will let you know how I get on

Although I don't want to stay offsite...I may have to. Are DTD hotels really much cheaper than onsite?? And...is it true they offer early entry?
If I can depend on the transportation...I'd love to do a DTD hotel!!I just pictured them all high dollar... I'd like to save some money so we can play more! :)

about the DTD hotels: Only the Hilton has EE. They all participate in enights when those are offered in the summer. It's a gamble but the HIlton often comes up on Priceline for around $60. You can check out www.biddingfortravel.com to get an idea if it's coming up for your dates, but with Priceline you have to be willing to take what you get and that could be something entirely different.

and if you get something different - you will probably (not always) need a rental car.

Mike - I love the Pop Century - I think it is the best of the value resorts - in the All Stars - Music probably has more adults.

I did call the all starts for reservation but was quoted £77+ taxes per night and they said the discount codes for december are suspended

do you reckon that is the best that I will get?
