Which of these dates would be better to visit in June?

We can go either June 14-18 but would need to stay offsite as onsites are not available for these dates.
Or we could go June 17-21 and possible stay onsite.
Is one of these dates better for crowds etc? Is there a REAL benefit to staying onsite?
This is our first time to DL and trying to read up on everything on here but need to get this booked asap so just trying to get some guidance. Thanks!
Oh and it will be my dh, myself and 2 boys 11 and 7 if that helps.

This is a tough comparison.
The days considered to be there are in my estimate of worst to best.

17th, 14th, 15th, 18th, 19th, 16th, 20th, 21st.

In your early trip you hit more of the worst, in the later trip more of the best.

If you stay onsite it may give you better perks. You get Magic Morning access each day it's offered. This will help get in more rides when it's busy. This also may expand from 4 days a week to 7, and from only DL to DCA. We won't know until we see the official calendar in about a month, too late for reservation, so it's a gamble. The other gamble which we may know about sooner is if they do a FP promotion for resort guests. Last summer they gave each resort guests two FPs, meant for Star Tours and Little Mermaid. If this repeats a couple FPs to use in Cars Land could have great value.

Oh when does the Cars ride open? I read it was June I think but didn't see a date. So I saw that block out dates for Annual Pass holders is June 14 15 16 and 17 that week I believe. Would that help the crowds those days or not neccesarily?

June 14 is going to be a tricky day because the entire DCA park will be closed as part of a media day for Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. That would make me lean heavily towards the latter dates no matter how busy they might be.

Cars Land and Buena Vista Street open on June 15.

It all opens on June 15th. Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, Matterhorn and some smaller things. Blockout dates will help a bit but not fully like they will the week before.

On the 14th DCA is closed this means all guest in DL. When you take the attendance of two parks and put them in one it makes for a disater.

On the 15th the opening will bring thousands of extra people who want to be first.

On the 16th there will be some residual effect from the 15th, but the AP block will help.

On the 17th SoCal APs are not blocked and that will bring in a lot of them. SoCal Select APs will be blocked for Summer already so they don't count into the equation.

THanks for the date breakdown. Holy cow that could be really bad if DCA is closed on the 14th and rides opening on the 15th. Think I need to reconsider these dates then.

There is no "if" about it. That is the current plan which Disney itself has announced.
