Which Night for Palos?

DW, DS(4) and I aren't cruising until Jan '05, but we are always in the planning stage. DW and I were looking at going to Palos for 1 dinner, but can't decide which night would be best. We would like to try each of the 3 restaurants the first 3 nights, and then the theme nights the next 3, leaving the last night as the best option. After further consideration, DW wants to spend the last night with DS.

Is there any one night that people feel is better to skip the usual dinner for Palos? I know that Palos would be superior to any of them, but it's our first cruise and we want to experience everything.

We are definitely going to book a Brunch at Palos, so we will be able to experience the restaurant that way.

Thanks.

This was a tough one for us (we just returned from the Magic), so we double-dipped! We had the later seating, and dined at Palo at 6:00 so we could dine w/DD at 8:30. We had 3 nights at Parrot Cay, and did not want to miss either of them. (We were in Parrot Cay for tropical night!)

We did the Palo brunch too, and that is definitely a do not miss!

On Dave's home page there is a link to platinum castaway club, or something close to that. When you click on it, it will take you to a terrific menu. Scroll until you se "MENUES".Click on this and you will be taken to a list of all the different schedules(i.e. 7-day, 4-day, etc). Read all the menues and decide which one seems to have less to offer you and choose that night for Palo. Of course you will be very hungry after you read all the d-lish choices, so do this before lunch. LOL!!

This is a tough one. I'd eat in Palo every night if I could. :teeth: As Caroljean said go to Barb's or Dave's website and review menus and if there is a menu that appeals to you the least, then book Palo for that night. As for your dh wanting to spend the last night with your ds, take into consideration that if your ds has made friends on the cruise he may not want to spend the last evening with you as this will be the last evening with his friends and he just may want to spend the evening with them. HTH

My choice is to skip the second night at anmators palate, since they only do the show the first night.

I agree with jgalecpa, skip AP on second go around. I would also avoid brunch & dinner on same night at Palo.. Spread the experience across multiple days, plus I couldn't eat any more food after having that brunch :earseek: WOW that is a lot of food!!

Thanks for all the replies.

MickeyHugger, we requested the same rotation (PLAPLAP) you mentioned, however, we requested early seating, so double dipping would mean eating before Palos. Wouldn't want to spoil that dinner.

CarolJean & TootyJane, I've looked at the menus and everything looks so good, that's the hard decission. We would want to try the 3 rotations the first 3 nights and then we have Around the World, Tropical Night and Captain's Gala. Again, 3 dinners we don't want to miss. That leaves Friday (last night) and DW wants to spend it with DS. I know DS will probably have made new friends, but DW will tell him the club is closed and he has to have dinner with us.

jgalecpa & DrCavin, thanks for the info on AP. I wasn't aware that the show didn't take place on the other night(s). Unfortunately, as mentioned above, if we get our rotation, that will be semi-formal night and the Captains Gala. Since DW wants DS and myself in tuxes on both formal and semi-formal nights, there is no way she'll skip that night.

I will definately plan a brunch and maybe look at skipping Tropical Night.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not Tropical night should be skipped?

Thanks.:)

My personal opinion is that there's no bad night to eat at Palo. It's always a better choice than the main dining rooms, so you won't be disappointed. I always say that people spend way too much energy worrying about this. Throughout the cruise, there will always be things going on at the same time and you'll have to choose what to do. Pick something you'll like and go for it. You can't worry about whether you're missing out on something else or you'll drive yourself crazy. It's all good, as they say. I used to do the same thing until we cruised on my birthday and wanted to eat at Palo on that night. That made the decision easy, and we really didn't feel like we missed anything. Since then, we just pick a night and go. At this point, we've skipped most nights at one time or another with no regrets.

That said, I've done Palo on Tropical night and it was great. After dinner, we changed and still hit the deck party, so got a feel for the Tropical night as well as a great dinner at Palo.

Why not do the champagne brunch at Palo instead, it gets rave reviews and is held on KW day and at sea days, then you can dine with DS every night ;)
