Which moderate should we choose and why? What building(s)?

I can only comment on POFQ as that is the only one we have stayed at. I did research all of the moderates and the value resorts before our June, 2002 trip. We chose POFQ mainly because my son, 11 then, saw the pool in the planning video and begged to stay there. It was a little smaller pool than it looked on the video but he liked it anyway. I wanted POFQ because of its size. It is the smallest moderate so walking to the pool, food court, bus stop, etc. was not bad. We even had the room that was just about the farthest away from anything at POFQ and still be on the grounds and we were no more than 3-5 minutes from anything. Sure makes a lot of difference at the end of the day. Our next trip is June, 2004 and if it is open I will stay there again but ask for a building closer to the food court and bus stop. I would love to stop by the food court on the way to the bus stop to fill up my mug and vice versa on the way back in the afternoon.

What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? I have only stayed at the Caribbean, but I have great memories of it! Each island has it's own individual beach with hammocks, and it's own quiet pool. I feel the atmosphere there is really fun with the bright colors and music. Because of it's size it never felt crowded except at the main pool and food court area.

This time around we are staying at Coronado Springs- but that's because it's 2 adults only and we're looking for a more calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the moderates but our favorite is CBR.

You don't mention how old your child is but CSR has the largest pool.

Your child might like the sandy beaches and play areas at CBR.

I would vote for CBR in the Martinique area... buildings 24-26. :)

I have only stayed at CBR and CSR. CSR is my favorite.

Why?
It feels more deluxe. The whole time I was there I kept saying, "I can't believe this is a moderate". The pool area is wonderful!!! There is a huge hot tub, kiddie pool, playground, sand pay area, volleyball, arcade, pool bar with food. We spent the whole day at the pool! I really liked the Pepper Market- a bit nicer than most traditional food courts.

I paid $84 at CBR and $109 at CSR and I still thought I got a better deal at CSR.

I agree with susy. CSR is a great value for a moderate resort because it truly does feel like a deluxe--you get all the amenities for less! Besides that, the resort is just beautiful! I would recommend Casitas for their convient location--close to the mail pool and main building.

Sorry about the multiple posts. I kept getting the "Website not responding "message!

I say CBR. I love the atmosphere and theme. There are beaches to play in the sand on, a main pool in and pools in each island and the rooms are decent sized and bright. My favorite location is Martinique.

suzy, you can delete them. If not, maybe the moderator can fix it.

We have only stayed at CBR and CSR. I vote for CSR. They are so right about the deluxe feel to it. The pool is just awesome and the Dig Site playground is great too! The whole atmosphere is just spectacular especially at night, it's kind of romantic to just stroll around.

We stayed at the Cabanas 8B. Close enough to the Dig Site and close enough to El Centro. We really liked this section cause it has the beach and hammocks.

I agree with the posters who liked CSR. The only mods we have stayed at are CBR & CSR and I would choose CSR hands-down over CBR. To be fair though, we visited CBR before the refurb.

CSR definitely felt more like a deluxe to me with the Pepper Market, Maya Grill, hot tub, salon & spa, and terrific pool. The pool in itself was worth staying there IMO.

I can't comment on POR or POFQ as we have never stayed at either but would be willing to try them-after the refurb.

HTH!

ANOTHER VOTE FOR CBR - OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY AT DISNEY. WE USUALLY TAKE WHATEVER ROOM/ISLAND THEY GIVE US BUT THIS PAST MAY WE SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED JAMAICA (I BELIEVE) BECAUSE SOMEONE ON THESE FORUMS TOLD US IT WAS THE FIRST P/U AND D/O FOR DISNEY TRANSPORTATION AND THE ADVICE WAS RIGHT. IF YOU BOOK WITH CBR, CHECK TO SEE B/C I BELIEVE YOU CAN BOOK A ROOM CLOSE TO THE FOOD COURT, THE LARGEST POOL AND THE PLAYGROUND AREA - BELIEVE IT MY BE MARTINQUE. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the CSR in May 2000 and will stay again in Oct. 2003. Mainly, I heard that it was a little quieter and more adult oriented. However, once there, we saw many kids with lots of fun activities. There is a conference center there so their are many adult conventioners (who often have their spouse and kids with them). I really liked their food courts (Pepper Market) and thought the Maya Grill (more formal and romantic) was excellent. We also like CSR proximity to all the parks. The bus system was great (and I hate/never ride them at home). In 2000, we stayed in the Cabanas 9B on the 2nd floor. It was actually very quiet. Somehow I expected excited children running about (which wouldn't have been bad b/c it would have got us moving earlier in the morning). The Ranchos are somewhat of a hike from where the main building is (and restaurants).

WE have only stayed in POR, but we loved it. Alligator Bayou bldgs. 14, 15 or 16, close to main pool & playground, laundry, food court & bus stop. Nice game room and Bob the piano player is hilarious in the lounge. Food court has good choices ( I vote for the beignets!!! yum) AB bldgs are rustic, our kids liked them.

Just my .02!!!!
