Which menu for my "junior" aged child?

We will be going to WDW in September and taking advantage of the free dining plan. What menu will be offered to my 10 year old son (child or adult)?
Thanks!

Great! He will be SO excited. He's a pretty big eater even though he's a skinny little thing! :confused3

I believe the changes were just recently made, it used to be 11 and under was a child but now its 9 and under. This seems to be causing a lot of issues with people that already booked buffets for their 'children' and will now have to pay adult prices

My DD10 likes to try new meals. She's addicted to Food Network! I'm not even remotely kidding! That would be cool if she has more foods to choose from.

my twin dds will have just turned 10 when we go in early Sept. That means we'll all be "adults" in the eyes of Disney. Originally we had planned to pay out of pocket for a few of their meals, ordering from the kids menu and save the TS credits. If it turns out they are enforcing the "9 and under" policy very strictly we'll either choose to have them share meals or "encourage them" to order an appetizer only and pay out of pocket for that, we'll still share the rest of our meals. They really don't eat that much in restaurants so I'd hate to always have to use a TS credit, but this way they might enjoy sampling interesting new foods on the appetizer/soup/flat bread menus.

The food portions at the restaurants are very large. Sharing meals and having enough to eat, especially with an appitizer, main course and dessert will not be a problem. We usually ordered 3-4 meals for the 5 of us to eat (our kids are 12 and 10 year old twins, too) and that was more then enough food.

Unless your 10 year olds are very tall, chances are they will be given a childs menu, even with the new age change. You might have to ask for an adult menu. They gave our kids kid menus at every restaurant we went to, we had to ask for adult menus for them.

SO this leads me to a question - if I share my meal with my daughter who will have just turned 10 on this next trip in December, do they "frown" upon that? This will be first time she'll be charged "adult" price on food and I'm having a bit of a problem with that. We do a LOT of sit down meals, used to do a lot of buffets, and I'm having a real problem with the cost. Maybe order an apetizer for both of us, one main course to share, and dessert each or to share? Would that be frowned upon?

I got back two weeks ago with my 10 yr old. I paid the adult fare for him on the MYW plan.

Some meals worked out better than others. He loved places like the Plaza Restaurant and the Sci Fi Dine in where he could have things like Steak Sandwiches, BBQ Chicken Sandwich and Hot Fudge Sundaes for desert.

This was before the age change, so I paid Cash at 'Ohana and LTT (kids price).

Le Cellier was our other TS dinner. The adult fare was a little too fancy for his taste, so he had a childs selection - no problem for them.

I think some children will work better than others at 10 yrs. If your child has a good varied food taste, it will be fine. If they only like basic food, it may not be worth it.
Have fun!
