Which lens is best for Disney?

I currently have a Digital Rebel XT, which I like a lot. I have a 28-70, but it's a Sigma.

I recenlty purchased the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens, which I love. I don't feel that 24 is wide enough for Disney. I was looking at the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. Is this a good lens to bring to Disney?

I want to be able to photograph the night shows, but I also want to be able to take regular group shots of the family. Should I spend the money on the wider angle lens or stick with what I have?

I'll probably bring both the lenses I have down there, but can't really see myself using the Sigma, not when I've seen the better quality of the Canon L lens.

With the canon lens you bought, I don't think you need the sigma, you have your range covered, so your not gaining anything by lugging the sigma around.

IMHO the 24 start is isn't as wide as I would like, but it should be compleately workable, just might have to use the foot zoom a bit for really big items.

I would probably focus your money at a longer lens at this time, instead of a wider angle lens.

Last year at WDW I mostly used the kit lens, and I kept wishing it had just a bit more zoom to it.

on two of my trips to disney parks last year, i only used the 24-70 (since i was travelling on a business trip). granted it's a bit wider on my 1dmk2, but it's still a great lens for the park. if you want something wider, you can carry the 24 -70 then an ultra wide like the 10-22mm. if you want longer reach, you can carry a good 1.4x teleconverter (or 2.0x if you don't mind a bit of softness).

I own too many lenses(accordin to my wife). I have from 10-200 covered(10-22, 24-70 and 70-200) but it would be nice to have one lens on and not worry about switching lenses at the park. I used my 24-70L and on my 20D it just wasn't as wide as I would like it. I too have considered getting the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS. The only concern would that I would be wanting more reach for some shots. This is a tough question to have the perfect answer for. I have just swallowed the fact that I will be carrying at least 2 lenses. I will have my 10-22 and 24-70 in my bag.

If you're happy with your current main lens, you should maybe look at a prime for something wider. A prime will generally be smaller, cheaper, and have better image quality. You can then switch between them as the situation arises.

I'm a Nikon user and have really loved the 18-200mm lens they have for trips. It does 98% of what I want to shoot. I have used a wide lens on a few occasions, but wonder if it will be left at home next trip.

How wide of a prime would you go? I guess my concern is that while I want to be able to take shots of people as well as fireworks etc.

This is exactly my problem. I really like my 24-70L, but feel that in some shots it won't be wide enough. How do you like the 10-22? I'm just worried that this won't be good for taking the family pictures(though please correct me if I'm wrong) That's why my initial thought was the 17-55 IS becasue it's wider than what I have but has the range to go to 55.

I would probably focus your money at a longer lens at this time, instead of a wider angle lens.

Well, my suggestion would be the 70-200 f/2.8 with or without IS as your needs dictate. I got without, because I use it mostly for sports. The problem with it, is it is a heavy sucker.

My next choice would be one of the 70-300 lenses. The DO version is much smaller, but also more expensive, both have IS

also the 50mm 1.8 should in my opinion be in everyones bag. It is under 100 and is a good lens for lowlight, portraits, close (not macro) shots where you want a very shallow DOF. I use mine quite often.
