Which kind of paint?

Go with Behr paint from the Home Depot and you will be very pleased!!!
Behr paint Ultra Pure White is also the "whitest" paint out there too.

It does not smell bad either.

Behr paint, IMHO, is the best choice.

When we sold our house, we repainted everything white with a cheaper paint. My poor DH had to do mulitple coats (even with a primer coat), and the smell was BAD. When we painted with the Behr paint, the smell was not bad at all, and dissapated quickly.

Hope that helps!

Make sure you pick a latex paint over an oil-based paint. Latex dries faster and doesn't have as many fumes as oil-based.

Benjamin Moore doesn't stink as much as the rest. Behr is also not bad. They are both good quality paints.

Stay away from the American Tradition lines at Lowes. They are the worse stink IMO!

That is true!! However, if the paint that is already on the trim is oil based, just make sure to use the primer that Behr makes first as the primer will alow the Latex paint to "grip" the original paint and not seperate.
Just ask for the purple can and they will know what you need.

Behr paint does not have any clay in it. That is one of the reasons that is smells better than other brands like Glidden or Dutch Boy or Sherwin Williams.
Behr paint will also give you better coverage, which means less work!!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: I do NOT work for the Behr paint company, I just really love their paint!!!

Hmm. My DH is currently painting with that paint and it doesn't smell bad at all.

We are all sitting in the same room with no windows open and you wouldn't even know he's got the paint out.

Or I'm so loopy from the fumes that I can't smell anymore.... :rotfl:

I'll have to go home to get to a Home Depot, but I might be able to get Benjamin Moore in the "big" town up here.. Guess I'll just have to go on a "paint sniffing" mission.. Maybe I should wait till someone else can drive so I don't get a "DUI".. :teeth:

Another Behr fan here. I use it exclusively. I'm not so sure about the fumes though. I always ventilate and still end up with a sinus headache. I think my problem comes when I have to use a primer/sealer (KILLZ). ALso like someone else said use a latex over an oil base. Good luck

PS Killz works great under Behr too-especially when put on an oil based layer going to latex layer. Leaves a nice texture for the Behr to stick to. I tint the Killz the same color as the Behr color and the Behr will cover in one coat.

Benjamin Moore is GREAT! Almost no smell, it dries quickly, and it covers in one or two coats.

Check out Behr's primer the next time you paint - it doesn't smell like Kilz at all.

ok flame away,, wal marts color place paint ussually has very little odor and is made by the largest paint manufacotor in the states,, its the same as the big name paint, just with out the "distinctive odor addative" or so i was told by regional sales rep for the big name paint co. when i had a customer that had a reaction to the odors in the paint.

The paint isn't all that good either.

Another vote for home depot behr paint. We spent a lot more on paint at Sherman Williams and found we like the behr best.
