Which is the smarter move? Book room only or room and ticket package?

When I book, should I book the room only (YC) and get the park tickets seperately (UHP), or should I book a package with them together? I'm wondering about the discount codes that may show up later. I plan on going in June or July. Can I use the discount codes with a package, or do I have to use them on a room only?

It is generally recommended that you book a room only hotel and buy park hopper passes for the number of days you plan to be at the parks. Packages tend to be more expensive and give you things you may not need or want. The UPH only gives you entrance for the time you are there on that particular trip. If you don't use the UPH on one of the days you are still paying for entrance into the park on that day. The park hopper pass can be used anytime. If you don't use it this trip, save it and use it the next time. Check out mousesavers.com for more information.

Usually room only and seperate passes are the best deal. Disney has been pretty good about package deals lately though, and it seems that even more package deals are coming out than room only rates. The Visa package was a great deal, and so was the Fairytale package. I would book room only(now) though and wait just to be sure you have a room where you want to stay. Then either wait for a package or wait for a room code to come out. Worse comes to worse, you will at least have your room deposit paid. If a package comes out, you can have that deposit put on that. I usually think about the hoppers this way: If I don't plan on visiting EVERY water park, and DisneyQuest, then I skip the UPH and get a regular hopper with plus options. This allows us to visit a couple of water parks and still have them for next trip if we don't use them. I would rather pay for a one day admission to DQ seperate because I know that we will not be going back and forth to DQ daily. If you are not going to truly take advantage of the UPH then I would go for a regular hopper with a few plus options.
