I have seen many and deciding which one to buy. I have seen a few from the O2 cool (i think that was the name). One was the personal mini misty mate which was a nice small size for the kids but nothing to go around the neck, another i found this morning was a mister/water bottle combination (the mister wasnt pressurized like the misty mate) it looked pretty neat as it works in two ways but a bit big and again nothing to go around the neck, and then you have the regular misting fans which are also kind of big but do have the necklace but not the pressurized water. . I already bought the battery operated regular fans that go around the neck last year but im afraid that wont do the job and now looking into misters. Can anyone help????

yes the bottle with fan. I know where to buy them but dont know what will be more practical.

We have used both personal mister and the one with the fan. We liked the personal mister because it was easy to stick in outside pocket of bag we carried, and handed to kids when needed usually standing in line. The one with the fans are bigger , but no one actually wanted to hold it or carry around their neck all day. So mom or dad usually ended up with it. We try to carry only a small back pack.

As the mom who gets stuck holding all the mister fans, I agree with Jrico. We bought personal misters that everyone was responsible for holding. Those mister fan things are so heavy after a while. My kids latched onto those enormous blue things that WDW sells. I ended up holding them. It was annoying. The next day, they stayed in the room and were never used again!

(They worked great, but if you don't want to hold onto them, don't get them.)

I can not agree more. The last two posters hit it right on the head. I am a dad of three and if you don't want to be stuck carrying the fan based misters go with the personal ones...

The fan based misters are usually bulky and irritating to wear for kids...

has anyone ever just used a travel sized pump hairpray bottle, and fill it up with water in the restrooms at the park to use as a "mister"/

I really like that idea!!!

I just bought the follow misting key chain fan the other day: http://www.homeandbeyond.com/prod-0172769.html

It hasn't come in the mail yet, but the site says it weights .25 lbs, the size is 3x6x1, and it has a metal carabiner clip on it...so I'm hoping it will be easy to attach to a belt. I read somewhere that it takes 1 AAA battery.

I like the miniature misting fans you can buy at Walmart. They're small, with a carabiner clip you can clip to a belt loop, purse, fanny pack, etc. They only hold a small amount of water, so you do have to refill them more often, but I like them better than the big clunky misting fans.

I also like the "slimline" Misty Mates - they don't have a fan, but work really well. There are several kinds of Misty Mates - the one I have is slim (about 1.5" or 2" across, and about 9 inches long) so it can tuck easily into a backpack, pocket, purse, etc.

thanks everyone it looks like the misty mater personal mister is the way to go.

I bought two bottles of Suave kid's hair detangler - 12oz bottles for $1.79 each at Target. Dumped out the product and washed it clean.

I plan on using these in the park. The idea of fans seems bulky to me so I wanted something sleek I could just throw in the side pocket of DH's backpack. =-)

I figure I will be sweaty and hot, I need a good fan..I like the big bulky ones, they give a better "breeze" IMO...but to each his own..plus if it isn't being carried it will go in the stroller...got them at our Walmart here in Canada...we used them last year and "paid them forward" to a family who bought our one use sit and stand stroller, they also got almost a case of water in the deal too...I had to buy new fans this year, went back for the same kind, we loved that "breeze"...mind you I am pooh-sized and I feel the heat a little more...

This is the one that has been most convienient for us. We have the kids each use one of the lanyard type straps for water bottles that are sold at WDW and they attach the fans to them. We got ours at Walmart. But BEWARE, the battery compartment cover gets loose. We usually end up using a bandaid to keep it on.

Also, the misty mates break easily. We went through two of them in about two days last trip. Not much of a drop breaks them. Waste of $15.00:headache: :headache:

I think we have done it all......
We bought the BIG ones at DIsney and they are HEAVY and cumbersome!
We bought the ones with fan and water mist and they are annoying on your neck after a while.
We bought the small misters without the fans and they were okay but no big thrill there either.
NOW, I take 1 small pump plastic bottle (99 cents at walmart target etc) and fill it with water and throw in fridge overnight in room, in morning, I throw it in ziploc in my small knap sack bag. Thats it, I fill it when I need to, it has no fan and honestly none of us miss that, it is so small and so convenient and does the trick!
BEST thing honestly is that we go to ANY counter service place and ask for a cup of ice water, its FREE and they gladly give it out for the asking....then I always have a crystal lite flavor with me and a COLD drink is GREAT!!! :thumbsup2
Have a great trip and STAY HYDRATED:cool1:

We use these and they are great! They hook on a lanyard or on your belt loop or purse! I bought 8 yesterday for our July Trip. We used them 3 years ago and had to have them again for this group traveling together. $3 at Walmart. They are misters too.

They had the personal fans without the mister hanging on the end isles by the larger fans, and these were in boxes near where they had gotten some summer items in. Yes where the wallpaper and paint section is.

OH THANKS for reminding me of this! I now recall that sometimes we did have a problem with that but not enough of a problem to not buy them again!
