For example quick internet search for two people on Aug 9/Aug 10, movies showed 166/night + parking, Swan 178/night + parking and resort fee.
So movies a little cheaper. But when I booked my upcoming stay, my total price was only $40 total more for Dolphin. So it was an easy choice, as I had stayed at All Star Sports on a previous trip and didn't like the crowded shared busses with all the All Star resort and in my opinion the bed was very uncomfortable. We generally don't spend a lot if time at our hotel, so that is why we went value, but even as tired out as I was, it was uncomfortable to sleep.
The ability to avoid busses to 2 parks was huge to me, especially getting a more comfortable stay, and going with a grandchild this time may break more at resort and dolphin has a nice pool. And with the Epcot monorail running, it will be easier to park hop to Epcot from MK for dinner and walk homeowners if we are having a rest just walk to Epcotband monorail over to MK, also a cool mini golf near Dolphin
If you are a Marriott reward member, or AARP, of AAA they have discounts.
If you are looking onsite, check out rates at Port Orleans, we stayed at Dixie Landings years ago, before they combined the resorts and were very happy with our stay.
I have to say there was a lot of sticker shock when I saw how much the Disney properties had increased in price since our last visit. I've never in my life contemplated spending $500 or more on a hotel room. For that kind of price, I'd expect more than most of the Disney hotels would give me.
