Which is better: Flo's V8 Cafe or Pacific Wharf Cafe?

My fiancé and I are picking out must-try restaurants in DL and DCA. We're curious about both Flo's V8 (sounds so cute and I love spending as much time as I can in Cars Land!) or Pacific Wharf (I'm nuts for corn chowder, especially in bread bowls). I'd like to try both but its one-or-the-other for us, sadly. :sad2: Opinions?

MUST it be one or the other? You guys can share. You'd be shocked how much your stomach can stretch on vacation ;)

I haven't eaten at Flo's yet, but Pacific Wharf is really good. The only bad thing is the line tends to be slow. You can ask that they put the contents (chili, salad, chowder, etc.) in a bowl. That way you can save the bread for snacks later. If you do that, then your fiancé can get something from Flo's. You can share!

We like Flo's V8 Cafe more
Turkey breast is pretty good. it seems very filling too,
Husband likes Pork lion. the theme is fun and plenty of seating. I'm not fond of their Corn and Beans but otherwise good sides

Flo's is surprisingly fantastic. Nice relatively inexpensive "comfort food" that's fast.

Be sure to try the Coke-based BBQ sauce with the BBQ pork!

I really enjoyed the food at Flo's. I had it on my solo trip and it made me feel like I was with my family around a big table when I was actually sitting alone. And the theming was really great!

Pacific Wharf by far. Never been impressed with Flo's. IMHO it's like very mediocre cafeteria food. Last meal the meat was dry and old. And the staff had literally never heard of horseradish. They thought I was making it up. Nice theming but ugh.

It's funny you say that. The picture posted above makes me think of mediocre cafeteria food.

It's really hard to beat the clam chowder in a fresh sourdough bread bowl. We were about to get something at Flos, we were actually in line, when we decided to head over to Pacific Wharf instead.

I prefer Flo's but they are so close it wouldn't be hard for some of your party to go get food at one location and bring it to the other (hint: Flo's has the BEST view of any counter service location west of Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom).

Totally agree!

I actually really enjoy Flo's. I think your looking for lunch/dinner options, but if you're up early enough, Flo's has a great breakfast menu :thumbsup2

Yes! Fabulous waterside seating :thumbsup2

Try the pie or milkshake at Flo's instead of a meal. To me, it's more atmosphere than food. Pacific Wharf is the opposite. Or, order something at Pacific Wharf and take it to Flo's, then order something at Flo's to have with it. They're not that far apart if you go the back way.

Get dinner at Pacific Wharf and dessert at Flo's. Cheese or chocolate pie. Yes, please.

We prefer Flo's. Pacific Wharf Café is not a good value for our family (an entire loaf of bread with a small cup of soup for $9+). Both are tasty, though.

I've tried it, but for some reason the sourdough is just better in San Francisco. Boudin has a special in their company owned locations called "Best of Boudin". It's one price for two items. One is a cup of soup, but it's an extra $1 for the bread bowl. I asked if I could just get two chowders in the bread bowl, but was told that only one item could be soup. I think they figured out that it wasn't going to work charging $8 for one and $10 for two.

These prices seem really low to me, although the might not be for the popular locations in San Francisco like the demonstration bakery at Fishermen's Wharf.

I am confused as well as others on why you can just pick one. If you are only going to be in the area of Carsland for one meal and have dinner reservations somewhere special then I get it.
Someone else has already posted the fact that the Wharf is right next to Carsland and it would be very easy to get a meal from each and eat them at Flo’s. I agree the view of the Cadillac Range from Flo’s can’t be beat. We split meals all the time, so that we can try more.
Carsland is definitely comfort food. My Son has a huge appetite and enjoys the food and the proportions. My favorite at Flo’s would be the breakfast tamale.
However at the Wharf I would go for lunch or dinner. My favorite at the wharf is the Pacific Wharf Café’s Shrimp Louise, and my Son’s is the Clam Chowder Bread bowl.
Isn’t it a wonderful world when this is your dilemma? Have fun! :tink:

Love this!!!

We like both, for different reasons.

We love the turkey, the pork, the mac and cheese, and the BBQ sauce at Flo's--also the breakfast choices and the desserts!

At Pacific Wharf Cafe, we love the salads(especially the chicken/apple one, the sourdough bread, and the soups and sandwiches!

We like the seating options at both locations as well.

I suggest you try to find time to eat at both--I'm pretty sure you won't regret the effort;)!
