Go to a store that really fits running shoes. If you don't have an independent one in your town, look for a Fleet Feet or something that really knows shoes. Not like The Foot Locker. The best shoe is the best shoe for your foot. Not necessarily the one with the best advertising budget, or the kind your sister wears, or what people here like.

Personally, I'm a huge New Balance fan...my husband and me both wear them for working out/running, and I also have a pair for work (I'm a nurse) and have never had any problems with them.
However, again, it totally depends on your feet.
Go to runnersworld.com and take the test to see if you have a high arch, normal arch or flat foot. Then find the type of shoe you need and then use their shoe finder and reviews to guide you...
You will likely end up with Asics or Brooks... Maybe Missuno
Likely not nike...
However each brand has difrent types so you need to find out what will work for you...
