Just curious what the folks here would do....

We are having some work done on our kitchen. We have a guy who has done other work on our house. We know and trust him. His work has been excellent. He has done some kitchen work in the past, but by his own admission he's more of a generalist - kitchen's aren't his specialty.

Or we could go with the installers from the kitchen supply company. They do nothing but install the stuff we are buying. They would also be cheaper.

I'd use the guy you know-we have the same thing- a guy we know/trust he has done some major work for us and I'd feel comfortable using him again.

you have a relationship with the guy you work with already. Ask him if he us fully confident that he can install them perfect. Espcecially since his price is a little higher.

Just be totaly honest with him. If you trust his work and he needs the work, he should do a realy good job.

or of he is not that confident he will nicely offer to let you save the money.

or ask him to meet the price, or meet halfway

that should be about all the options, right? Hehehehehe Did it help much?

I think I would get lots of recommendations and opinions. Kitchens can be tricky, especially when you're dealing with existing space and older plumbing.

My MIL just went with someone she knew to re-do her kitchen. Because they already had a relationship, she felt comfortable with him and didn't watch his work carefully. He had his subordinates do the work and did not communicate her wishes with his employees.

The kitchen has ongoing problems and she is really not happy with how it turned out.

Whoever you go with, make sure that you check their references. Ask others who have used them for similar work what kinds of issues you had with them and if they would use them again.

And don't forget to check with local authorities for any sort of permit requirements for your renovation. Newer building codes will likely be in effect depending on the age of your house, and the city may require inspections of the work completed.
