Which fabric pens for pillowcases?

I used the fine tip ones and ordered them online. I had looked around for something comparable at our stores in town and couldn't find anything specifically for fabric. I think the broad ones would work pretty good too, but the skinny ones were a little cheaper. They were shipped and arrived pretty quick from what I remember.

I want to see if I understood well. . . the thing of the pillowcase is like this:
1. You take a pillowcase (s) with the sharpies in a ziplock to the guest service desk
2. All Characters signed them (How many pillowcases per stateroom?)
3. Whe do I get to have my pillocase (s) back?

thank you, my next trip will be on December and I want to be preapred.

If you are using new pillowcases, wash and dry them first. Make sure your room number is on the ziplock bag.

You do not have to supply the sharpies guest services has them. You can specify what characters you want to sign them. For example only princesses or only male characters. If you want only black or colored sharpies you can specify that as well.

We had 4 pillowcases. We got them back on the last night. :)

Will they only do the number of people in your room? I was thinking I would like one for each of my daughters and a mat for us. It would be cool to get them for our four godchildren, but I don't want to push it! What do you think?

Did you use the fine tip ones? Did you find them at JoAnnes or Michael's, or did you have to order them online? TIA!

I went to my Michaels, Walmart, Target, JoAnns, and Office Depot yesterday to find the Crayola Fabric markers WITH NO SUCCESS. However, when I went to Jo Ann Fabric I did find the Marvy Fabric Markers.. I got the 6 flourescent color set in fine tip. The lids are colored, but the body of the pens are black. They also had a 6 set in pastels (in fine tip). I went ahead and bought the fine tip for $6.25 on sale, but I think its too fine. The normal size would be better. I can't remember the cost of those and I think there was one less color.

I tested one marker on an old high count pillowcases and there's no show of any bleeding. I can't wait! (the test was done on the two layers of fabric).

EDITING MY POST TO SAY: I just saw the most recent post and tested the Marvy markers again. If there's any hesitation of the character's signature it will bleed through . Don't know if maybe some kind of blotter in the middle would help deter the bleeding through.

:cheer2: To jkk, who said: "Will they only do the number of people in your room? I was thinking I would like one for each of my daughters and a mat for us. It would be cool to get them for our four godchildren, but I don't want to push it! What do you think? Jodi"

My suggestion. I would limit your request to how children are sailing with you per child/ per stateroom(s). I think that would be fair to the DCL staff and others who might want pillowcases and/or other items signed as well. JMHO

HI!

We had no problem with getting plenty of signatures, etc. I used Sharpies (pastel) and a pre-washed pillowcase. When we got the pillow case back, the signatures had bled through. :furious:

What's the best thread-count, or type of pillowcase? The one I used may have been a cheap-o. (Can't remember!)

I'd like to get it right for our cruise in November. Thanks for any advice! :thumbsup2 I think I may also look into different pens as suggested earlier.
