What is the best book for a noob to CS5. I have never really dabbled in layers or curves. I have been a strictly LR3 and Topaz user.

Hey Harry you ever try looking around Google for specific Photoshop techniques? Thats what I did when I wanted to try my hand at making a tilt shift style picture. I found a web site that was pretty good and showed a step by step process on how to achieve that effect. Its a little tedious especially if you looking for a broad range of things to learn but its def a tool you can use and its free :)

Adobe's "Classroom in a Book" is pretty good for learning the software, progressing through the features step-by-step. The book teaches the "how" but is not much on the "why". For that some of the books by Alain Briot, Rocky Nook, or "Photoshop Artistry" are good. There is also a lot on the web for free.

Another vote for Classroom in a Book. It's used as a text for college Photoshop classes for a reason. Do the lessons and you'll have a good skill set in Photoshop at the end.

My favorite book beyond that is Photoshop for Photographers by Martin Evening.

Thanks, I'll think I'll try the Classroom in a Book. I really want to learn the basics on tools, layers, curved and such.
