I am terrible at making up my mind and I would love some advice. For the longest time I had thought that we'd split our 2 week honeymoon between Saratoga Springs and OKW. Now I'm not sure. What do you think is the perfect DVC for a honeymoon and do you think we should stay in one place the whole time or do a split stay for fun? I've got to hurry up and make my mind up b/c I have to bank my points in 3 days.

Saratoga Springs
Old Key West
Boardwalk Villas
or.....
Wildernesss Lodge Villas

I have stayed at both and each is great. :thumbsup2

I prefer OKW just because the rooms are so huge.

My opinion is don't split them. You waste too much time waiting to check into the second resort. Even if it is just a few hour wait, to me it is wasted time. :guilty:

Have a great honeymoon! :love2:

See, and I would want a week at VWL!

Best wishes!!!

For us we prefer OKW but for one place for a honeymoon, I'd say BWV BW view. Second choice BWV non BW view (standard is cheaper), followed by BCV and VWL. But in part it depends on your knowledge and experience with Disney, favorite parks, etc. To do a week each, I'd do BW view one week and likely VWL the other week or SSR as an alternative. I'd only do OKW if you'll have a car.

And even better option would be to add a few days at VB or HH depending on exactly when we're talking.

I'd say OKW for the whole time, but I am assuming you will want some quiet "alone time". ;) If you are looking for some night life action, OKW and SSR are both near enough to DTD. BWV is also a choice if you like Jellyrolls.
LOL! I guess I'm not much help, but if it was me, I'd likely do a 1 bedroom at OKW for the whole trip.

What do you want out of your honeymoon?

If you are not planning to leave the room much then probably OKW- if you are planning on roaming out of the room some, then BWV or VWL

or split vacation as you had planned may be the best of both worlds!

Congrats and good luck :goodvibes

Old Key West, Don't move: get a one bedroom because they have the jacuzzi!!

I will throw in SSR, we just stayed there and talk about quite and relaxing, walk over to DTD for many great meals, and now a horse and buggy ride around SSR, Talk about romantic, and the spa offers several things for couples, plenty of places to unwind around the lake, and you can walk to OKW for more options. But anywhere in Disney will be great. :cool1:

We honeymooned at Boardwalk Inn (weren't yet DVC members... actually, we bought in on our honeymoon). I really recommend this location. It's great for a relaxed trip. We loved being able to walk over to the World Showcase just to grab a meal. And it's great to be a part of a larger, walkable resort area there around the lake.

If you are doing a 1BR OKW all the way - If you are doing a studio SSR or any of the others. If you are going to split it up and want to save points do a studio at SSR and then a 1 BR at OKW. My DH and I did a split stay like this last Sept and it was great. You mention 2 weeks so maybe you could avoid the weekend in the 1 BR and do the studio for a longer time. Changing resorts doesn't really take that long. If you don't have a car Disney will move your luggage so all you have to do is check into the new resort and then go about your day if there is no room available when you check in. Good luck with you decision.

Here's what I would do with a honeymoon. Planning a family? Stay at whichever resort you are least likely to stay at with kids, cus this may be your only chance. Personally I'd pick the BWV.

If you really want to have the most memorable honeymoon possible: Beach Club

yeah, I remember that one ;)

I've staying away from BCV, but I've never been a fan so it doesn't have a thing to do with that thread.

ETA: It looks like we're leaning toward staying in a 1 bedroom the WHOLE trip. The DF isn't looking forward to me being paranoid about moving my dress and the wedding cake again. Thanks for all the help!!!!! :thumbsup2

If you are staying two weeks at Disney I would definitley split your time between two resorts. It is an exciting thing to do. I would pick one resort at Epcot. For a honeymoon I would pick the BWV although I now love the BCV and it is our home. The Stormalong pool is better at the BCV but you can use the Boardwalks quiet pool by the BWI (I think) It is very romantic there. You just can't beat the location of the Epcot resorts for two adults. It is so romantic to walk or take a boat ride to Epcot. There are so many restaurants available and a dueling piano bar and a dance hall etc.It is the best spot in the DW! I would then pick a different type of resort. The others dvc's are a quieter and I would pick which one is better suited to your tastes. SS is nice because it is new and fresh and you are so close to DTD and Pleasure Island. Looked like a great place for a honeymoon. On the other hand WLV's are a boat ride away from the MK. OKW wouldn't be my choice because it is too removed for me but if you want a tropical feel then go with that. You may want the more relaxed resort first and then go the the Boardwalk for the second week. It is relaxed there too but more exciting IMHO. I think it would be hard to leave the Boardwalk area to go to a really quiet place. I would prefer to unwind first. Whatever you pick...two weeks at Disney...what a honeymoon! Congrats! :goodvibes

I would ask Disney to store your cake for the two week honeymoon. I am sure they have done this many times before. Your dress should be in a bag and it really isn't that difficult to move. Will you have a car with you? If not move via taxi. Not a very expensive thing to do. I really think you would like the changing of resorts. Kind of like two vacations. However if you have decided to stay put in one resort my vote is for the BWV. Have a wonderful honeymoon! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Then you can't go wrong no matter where you stay.

Ahhh! Tough choice. I tried putting myself in your place, and I drove myself crazy trying to decide!!!!

I'm in the group that hates to move around during vacation especially if I had a ton of wedding stuff to move.

The OKW 1-bedroom is my ultimate favorite for the SPACE and relaxation. It great for the relaxing vacation, kind of a beach (w/o the beach lol) house vacation where I get to play house.

BUT for a romantic honeymoon, I would lean toward BWV, for the easy access to romantic walks to see the firewalks, and a short walk to restaurants, etc.

If I had stayed at OKW for our honeymoon, we would NEVER have left our room. Not because of "what you think," but because we were so wiped out after the wedding that all we wanted to do was sleep and were too lazy to go anywhere that wasn't right outside our door. So, for US, it would have been better to choose somewhere that had activities right downstairs like BWV.

If I had the MEGA points to burn, ideally I would keep the OKW 1-bedroom for the entire 2 weeks AND get a BWV studio just for weekend getaway!!! Sick, right? :rolleyes1

GODD LUCK with your decision!!!

I would suggest Boardwalk for the atmosphere and proximity to Epcot & MGM, and then SSR for its proximity to DTD. That seems like a perfect vacation for two adults. Later when/if you have kids, you can stay at OKW for the bigger rooms, or VWL for the proximity to MK, or BCV for SAB. Happy Honeymooning!
