I was just wondering which DVC resort has the best 1-bedroom vacation home. We will be staying in a studio @ SSR and then moving into a 1-bedroom at either SSR, BWV, or OKW. Thanks for any info.

The 'best' for anything is always a personal choice, based on any number of factors such as size, location, decor, etc.

Many really like OKW 1-B/R villas since they are by far the largest of all the DVC resorts' 1-B/R's. So if size and comfort are your top priorities then OKW would make sense.

SSR and BWV 1-B/R villas are quite a bit smaller, but do have locations which may be preferable.

Finally, BWV is more of a hotel arrangement, SSR may feel more like a larger apartment complex (but a very nice one), and OKW may feel more like a Townhouse arrangement.

For location, SSR is close to DD and BWV is near Epcot and MGM. OKW is more laid back and isolated.

It is a real personal choice. To me it depends on who is going, and what type of trip do you plan. We love OKW for longer laid back trips when we have lots of family. The bigger room is great for meeting up and just chilling. BWV is great for our more on the go trips when walking to EPCOT and MGM is important. We haven't stayed at SSR but I'm sure when our group gets to the night life stage (again)it will rank up there.
So there is no one answer. All the 1BR villas are great it depends on your needs. Have a great trip.

We love OKW for size. For location BCV is best (beats out BWV when you consider SAB access)

We like OKW best for both size and location. I don't like to have the park noise breathing down my neck at night, and I live in a rural area, so OKW is more relaxing for me.

I'd agree with the others that best depends on what you are looking for.

We have stayed at all the DVC resorts in one bedroom units at one time or another and like them all best for different things.

OKW is best if you want a lot of space and a more laid back attitude since the one bedrooms there are much larger than the others and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

The one bedrooms at all the other WDW DVCs are pretty similar in size and layout, so the biggest decision between them is what kind of decor you want and what you want to be closest to. If you want the coolest pool, BCV wins (I don't like the scary clown pool at BWV).

Personally for me the best 1 BR is the one I am in at the time. I personally prefer SSR but we have stayed at almost all of them (missing OKW only) and I like them all....

Personally, between OKW and Saratoga Springs, it's a no contest. Old Key West wins by a very "W-I-D-E" margin.

Except for those of us who aren't fond of SAB....which is a very cool pool, but is NOT relaxing for a over nervous around water Mom with kids old enough to swim "by themselves" but young enough to need to be watched.

Unit for unit it's OKW, esp the ones that have direct access to the bath through the laundry room. VB and HH would be a close second. If you consider other factors it becomes more of a choice.

It can also depend on how many are in your party. If it's just two people staying in a one-bedroom (which we do because of the king bed and the feeling of luxury compared to a studio or a hotel room), the size difference of OKW doesn't mean anything. Any of the one-bedrooms are PLENTY big for the two of us.

But if you have kids or other adults staying with you, I can see where the extra space would make a huge difference!

For two adults, we prefer the Epcot resorts.

Except that some of us don't care for the location and feeling of BWV or BCV. We usually stay in an OKW 1 bedroom even when it is just the 2 of us.

Same with us!

Also, OKW not only has the largest units, they have the largest porches. The only ones where you have a table and 4 chairs on the porch of every 1 BR. The porch is my favorite part.

::yes::
I love those porches. You can actually sit there and no one has to get up so you can get by them if you need to go back in.

That's a tough question. Caskbill gave you the sound arguments for each. Would you sacrifice being close to a park for a bigger room? then you would want OKW. Would you rather be close to something and don't care about size? then BWV, BCV or VWL are for you. I think SSR is in the middle. Rooms are bigger than the villas' and you're close to DTD.

Between Old key West and Saratoga Springs, OKW has the biggest rooms and has the most useful porch. Saratoga Springs does not even come close in comparison.

I agree alot of the choice is your presonal preference.
But basically it boils down to BCV, BWV & VWL having the best locations--think in real estate terms not emotional terms; and OKW has the largest 1 & 2 br villas--by a substantial amount.
OKW has the lowest pts required per night for 99% of the time, out of the WDW DVC resorts. There are a few times when actually a BWV is lower in pts than an OKW villa, but it is not often.
BWV's standard point villas have the next lowest pts required per night.
SSR brings in the the top 3 for the lowest pts required per night.
Other than that, the rest of the comparisons, are purely personal preference.

Ok - we will definately stay in SSR bc/:

1. We saw the showrooms and I LOVE THE DECOR (even if they are the smallest rooms.)

2. It is our home resort. Booking three different resorts (none of them being our home resort) would be waaaaay too difficult.

So, we will stay in SSR and VBR.

Now the question is - BWV or OKW.

If we do SSR and BWV - our studio will be at BWV and the 1-bedroom will be at SSR. If we do SSR and OKW - our studio will be at SSR and the 1-bedroom will be at OKW.

The postings are swaying me towards OKW. Does anyone have PICTURES OF THE PORCH AT OKW? If we did go to BWV, we would have a standard view to save points - so I'm thinking that we get a better view at OKW for fewer points.....

Is OKW so spread out that it is very far to walk to bus stops, food courts, etc.?

Finally.... does anyone know the approximate commute times from BWV, SSR, and OKW to the theme parks?

SSR rooms are bigger than the Villas'(BWV,VWL & BCV) not OKW.
