Which dvc company to rent from

Great board. Thanks for all the details.
We just put in a request at David's for Jan 8-15, 2021 BWV Standard Studio. We are exactly one week out from 11th months and hoping that would help availability. This is our first time using a broker. I thought January was an easier time of year but according to the Prediction Charts it looks like high demand continues to Feb.

We thought they'd be fine finding a match but now I'm less optimistic. The Boardwalk View is pretty cool so we'd be open to paying $600 extra if necessary to get a room. Do we have a decent chance for Standard Studio? If not, with Boardwalk View?
You are looking at marathon week. It's a busy time for DVC. Hopefully they find an owner who can book first thing in the morning when booking opens for the day. There are about the same number of BW view studios as Standard Studios. BWView and Standard view are both about 20% of the resort. Preferred/pool/garden is about 60 % of the resort.

Thanks for all the responses. I knew it was already hard even as an owner but didn't fully appreciate the extra hurdle of inventory points from the broker's end.

I let the broker know we're willing to split the stay at BWV but guess that won't help if there's no inventory of points there.

Jan 8-15, '21 BWV Std Studio 8 nites

Is there anything we can do to increase our chances? I'm trying to optimize the 11 month window advantage that opens for us at the end of this week. Could including a split stay option at Beach Club help? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
To improve your odds, choose a different resort and not a MK or Epcot resort.

... With arriving at the end of marathon and leaving as the MLK crowds come, we've put ourselves in a harder spot than realized.
The Half Marathon is on Sat and the Full Marathon is on Sun. You are hitting it at the busiest time of the marathon weekend.

Yeah wow. Our only child is starting college next year and we thought it would be easier to work around. Not true I guess. We used to like going over Super Bowl weekend but now that's out :( We'll figure something out... at least there's still plenty of time :)

We are not allowed to mention DVC renters other than David’s DVC.

That is not correct. Currently the only DIS DVC rental sponsor is www. DVCstore.com and they have been a DIS sponsor as long or longer than anyone else (I think they were a sponsor even before DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com .

However, there is at least one rental broker company which is in the DIS word filter - so if you wish to mention a rental broker, please post a link to their site. If the link appears as typed, everything is fine. If the link appears as ********, everything is still fine since the filter has been allowed to perform its intended function.

There is a thread about this pinned at the top of the Disney Resorts Forum - PLEASE READ: Mentioning Travel Agencies and Other Businesses

If waitlisted at one company can you attempt to book a reservation with another company, then go with whoever books first and then ask for deposit back by whoever couldn’t fulfill reservation?

Yes, that's exactly what I did for Old Key West Studio and Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Studio - Savannah View - worked great :-)

Also when booking 2 rooms is it better to make contingent or rent separately?

IMO, it depends. If you're willing to pay cash for a second room at the same resort in case a rental doesn't come through, then I would think booking separately would make it easier to fulfill.

I made them NON contingent, since that meant that they would book whatever resort they could secure first.
In my case, I didn't care whether OKW or AKL would be in the first and second week or the other way round. I was also open to booking at other resorts.
If your booking is contingent, they will wait with the booking until they can secure both resorts in the priorities you stated with your request.

It's better to just get one villa that sleeps your entire party instead of trying to get two by renting. An owner can't tell when they book on line if there are two available villas in the same category and size and same resort until they book one and then the other. So even if you get an owner with enough points, they need to book at 11 months out to have a chance to get two of the same. Even then, there are times of the year when it's not going to happen.

This is not accurate. A link to a business can be posted. If it shows up blacked out with ****, it means it in the the boards filter and the site did its job.

You are simply not allowed to be creative in posting a name or link to avoid the filter.

I was really interested in trying the DVC route but this post ( if true) makes me not want to bother. Looking at AKL early November and would only entertain Davids. Is it others experience that despite the notion that requests are generally answered within 24 hours, they mostly come up empty and are waitlisted?
Although I do receive a response in under 24 hours from the two brokers I’ve contacted, I have not yet had them come back with a request that’s been available. Of course, I have been shooting for a studio between Thanksgiving and mid December at either BRV or BW. I was fortunate enough to find a renter on this forum to book me a studio at Kidani for a 6 night stay Thanksgiving week this year. I’m gonna try my luck here rather than the brokers from now on, unless I switch the time of year I want to travel.

This thread has a lot of helpful information. I am looking into booking a trip this year and have never used DVC points before.

This is a misconception on renting DVC points through the brokers. There is no first come first serve basis when a waitlist exists for a resort (if no waitlist doesn't come into play). When I rent my points I'm essentially emailed the entire waitlist for the resorts I'm eligible for and simply I pick whichever rental fits my needs. So really the owners get a first come first serve at selecting a reservation to fulfill; however, the person looking to rent points is just put on a list of all rentals being seeked.
This is very enlightening .... thank you!

If you just tried to book that via a broker, you are probably way too late to get either of those two resorts for the time period you want. That is a really, really popular time for DVC members and studios go very quickly at 11 months out.

Yes, I finally found that out once I found this forum. No wonder I was never successful right 😜

Yes, but be aware if both companies find a reservation for you, you’ll be out the deposit money at one of them.

For those like me just getting into trying to rent points, my experience this week confirms that there is far more demand than availability. For my 4 requested nights in Oct., only three properties had availability for dvc owners. And then of course the broker would have to find a match of points availability. Next time maybe.

October is a busy time for owners. Mid-Sept through mid-Jan is a busy time for owners.
