Finally arrived at my parents' house in Southern California today. I'm finally heading out to DLR with DW and DD6 on Tuesday. My question is what Disney or Pixar movies we should watch before going. There are so many different options from the Disney Classics to the Pixar movies.

- Her favorite princesses are Jasmine and Ariel. Interesting how she likes the princesses from my era :) Should we watch those movies or one the disney classics?

- She has never seen Cars or Toy Story. Should we watch it before going on the ride?

Thanks

Cars definitely. Carsland is the best themed land there, and it will help a lot having the movie fresh in your memory.

Cars, Monsters Inc, Little Mermaid (depending on how much she knows the story) Then you can compare the movies to the rides with her.

Picking just one I'd go with Cars based on pictures I've seen of Cars Land that will be the most impressive and feel like you stepped into the movie. (I can't wait to experience this myself)

If you plan on spending some time in DCA then you really should watch Cars, Toy Story and Bugs Life.
Of course my favorites are the classics, but they don't stick out as much for young children to recognize in DL as the new ones do in DCA.

Lana :)

I just reread your post and noticed that she is 6. Definitely watch Bugs Life. She will be able to ride everything there and watching the movie then getting to be at bug level in the plants may really be exciting for her.

My DS watched Cars about 100 time when he was younger - so you can imagine we all know it off by heart - so yes, it's a given.

We are actually going to dig it out and watch it again before heading back to DLR.

It will be quite odd to walk into a land I heard of while washing dishes, folding laundry, working on my laptop....

Up! Then she can meet dug and Russel(:
Annnnd it's my favorite "new" movie.

If you want her to recognize things from the movies, you should stick to the princesses and Pixar, best bang for your movie watching time.

Definitely the Toy Story movies, not only because they are some of the best animated movies ever, but because there are a couple Toy Story rides. I've never been to the new Cars Land, but as others have said, she should watch Cars and Bugs Life because there are two lands based on those movies. I think Bugs Like is a much better movie than Cars, and a 6 year old girl would probably like Bugs Life more too.

I would have her watch some of the movies that have a ride based on them so she is familiar with the characters and themes. Mainly, Peter Pan, Alice, and Dumbo.

SO TRUE! Took my son to the doctor's and Cars was playing on the flat screen while I noticed how the replication of the town was SO spot on that it really blew my mind! ::yes:: When the movie 1st came out I did not really watch the whole thing just kept the TV on for background noise & didn't pay attention.
:confused3 Going SO many times now I notice LOTS of details!!!:thumbsup2

My DS is 8 and when Cars came out that thing was on constant repeat practically so we will definitely be watching that again before our trip!

AlsoToy Story and Monsters Inc, Aladdin and maybe a Star Wars (for Star Tours and Jedi Training!)

The past few days I've had marathons! Up, Cars, Bugs Life, Monsters Inc., Peter Pan, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, next probably Snow White.

We watch Disney movies endlessly the day before we go too. Or we do it for our kids before they go as they usually stay at our house the night before they go because we live right by the airport and give them rides. One we have watched a lot of lately is The Princess and the Frog, my wife just loves that movie and laughs alot, especially during the part where the three hillbillies are trying to catch the frogs.

You're going to be there the day after tomorrow, which really doesn't leave too much time for watching movies.

I also recommend Cars as a must for this trip. It's a Bugs Life would also be good.

Then any of the following, IF there is time:
Little Mermaid
Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
Snow White

There are more, but not enough time before you go.
