Which day - HS and AK

I’m planning for our 8/31-9/7 trip. I know until SWGE opens it will be hard to predict and know the best strategy, but I’m just looking for opinions on what would you do. Background: party includes my husband, myself, DD 4, DD 7. Staying at WL, 6 day Park hoppers. Open to using Uber. We do better with early starts, rarely make it to nighttime entertainment. We love AK and HS and can spend a full day there. We are not interested in SWGE this trip, but haven’t experienced Toy Story land.

My current plan based on ADRs and MNSSHP has Monday (Labor Day 60+2), Wednesday (60+4) or Thursday (60+5) for our one AK and HS days. I’d like to get FPs for FOP and Slinky dog, which might not be possible with the days I have open for those parks.

1- What day would you schedule our AK and HS day? I think Labor Day would be a disaster at HS. This could be a resort day for us.
2- What would be our FP strategy on our day to schedule and any chance for FOP and SD?

To be clear, you are looking at full days for each park, or one day split between the 2 parks?
Either way, Monday will be terrible.
I would do the parks on Wednesday and Thursday. Not sure the order really matters. The extra magic hours will be there so the parks open early for onsite guests.
Putting the HS and AK days later in the stay makes getting FPs for FoP and SDD easier. However, with SWGE having just opened, it could still be difficult to get FPs due to the crowds.

One day each for both parks. Thanks!

I would put AK on Wednesday and HS on Thursday. FOP seems slightly easier to get than SDD right now so I would give HS the extra + day for booking. That’s how I did mine for June.

Monday would be horrible for both parks - avoid it! Plus, as gharter mentioned, later means more chances for Fastpass! :thumbsup2 Of course, SWGE is a game changer, so we won't really know much about HS crowds and Fastpass stuff until that opens.

So I'd suggest Wednesday and Thursday for AK and HS, I don't think order really matters. As of now, SDD seems a little harder to get than FOP, so I'd suggest prioritizing SDD. I haven't been to HS really, so I won't be much use for Fastpass strategy there unfortunately. However, if you're curious about AK fastpasses, I'd suggest FOP, Kilimanjaro, and DINOSAUR/Kali River Rapids depending on your taste.
