Trip--end of September

Option 1:
MNSSHP on a Thursday night followed by an Epcot/DHS day on a Friday

Option 2:
Epcot/DHS day on a Thursday followed by MNSSHP on a Friday night

We are wanting low crowds especially at Epcot and MK. We want to avoid the drunken behavior at Epcot during the weekend nights during F&W, so Epcot would be early in the day if we pick Friday. We also want to ride RotR, MMRR, and Remy. We are willing to RD and pay for ILLs.

So which option would you choose?

My thought is that MNSSHP will probably be more crowded on Friday night, so I would probably choose option 1 based on that. That being said, we are planning on attending a Friday night party because our only other option is a Tuesday night on our arrival date. Since we will be getting up at probably around 3:00 am for a 5:45 am flight that day, we figured that wouldn't be the best choice.

This was my initial thought, but didn't all the end-of-September parties sell out two years ago. Even if they didn't, I'm afraid demand will be high this year, and they will. So does that mean that a Thursday night will be just as busy as a Friday? Or does Disney sell more tickets on a Friday night?

I also thought it might be good to do the party earlier in the trip in case of weather issues. I know they don't cancel the party, but in 2011, we went to MNSSHP, and it came a monsoon. Literally! It is recorded as the 10th most rain in one day in Orlando since 1894! It started about an hour after we arrived, and it POURED!!! It was impossible to do anything. Everyone stood in line at City Hall to get party tickets for later in their trip. We were leaving the next day at lunch and had not even stepped foot in MK. They were nice enough to give us one-day tickets since we couldn't do a later party, but I realize that was MAJOR pixie dust. The issue is if they do allow us to attend the Friday party if the Thursday party is a wash, then I would have to do 3 parks in one day since Epcot and DHS are must-dos for us.

Decisions, decisions!!!

Still pondering this. I'm really leaning toward doing DHS/Epcot on Thursday and MNSSHP on Friday. With the park hopping restriction, we can't get into Epcot until 2:00 so we will probably stay for dinner. From what I've been reading, a Thursday night would be much better to avoid unruly behavior than a Friday night. As far as the crowds on an MNSSHP night, we are attending mostly for the rides, parade, and fireworks. We might trick or treat if the lines aren't long, but if we miss that, no big deal. We will not participate in any of the dance parties or other special shows. We plan to stay until closing, so I know ride lines become shorter as the night goes on. So would Option #2 be best for us?

I’d lean towards option 2 as I wouldn’t fancy RDing DHS the morning after closing out MNSSHP…

Good point. I do have to say we are also hoping for Moonlight Magic tickets at AK on that Wednesday night, so we may be out late anyway the night before. We probably won't stay as late at that one though. It's a short trip, so it is what it is.

Sounds like we may see you there! I’m currently guessing that MM will run from 7-10 in September so, as you said, less of a late night.

I know the July 2019 Moonlight Magic event was 9:30-midnight with entry at 6:00. Do you think the September 2022 one will be earlier just because it's not during the summer and the park closes earlier in September than in July? That's really what I'm hoping for--earlier hours. If the party does start at 7:00, then do you think we will be able to enter at 4:00?

Yes, my logic is that it’ll start at park closing (like previous events). The only question really is whether AK will close at 8 (which it is this week) or 7 (which it did in late September 2021). I haven’t been keeping up with entry times this time around - not sure what they did for the Epcot ones?
