Which BWV rooms are standard view?

Is there a list of which BWV rooms are standard and which are preferred?

I am at BWV right now, in Rooms 1133 and 1135. Our view is of a little swampy area, with a bunch of cars parked on the other side. Is there a view from a higher floor?

I had asked to be waitlisted for a standard view, and perhaps that is what I got. If not, it is probably one of the worst possible "preferred" rooms out there!

By the way, my world isn't ending over this. But I do feel if one is going to pay more in points for a "preferred" view, one should get more than swamp and a parking lot.

Anyway, anybody got a link to a comprehensive list of which rooms are which?

We were in #4131 in 2003 and it was considered "preferred". Our view, primarily, was of the valet parking lot and that small strip of water. I agree.....I questioned both BWV and DVC about it because I honestly thought they had made a mistake. I'm not 100% positive what category your room falls into, because it's a fine line they draw. Two or three doors down from us was considered standard view. Sorry I don't have a list, but I can understand why you would question the view.
Have a nice trip despite the view.

I believe the standard view units only extend to the corner of the building, with the last units (x123) featuring a wrap-around balcony which faces both the bus stop and the "swampy area" you mention. Once you've turned the corner and no longer have a view of the bus stop, you are in preferred view territory.

You won't see a room # 1123 because that's where the door facing the bus stop is. The 2nd thru 4th floors have the corner rooms in that location. They are dedicated 1-bedroom units with extra-large living rooms and the large wrap-around balconies.

Now see Pete, I was told differently. Not sure what to believe, but our room (4131) was about 3rd from the end of the long hallway. We were almost as far as one could get from the elevators. When I returned home from that trip in '03, I inquired here on the DIS and several people told me that just a few doors down from (still a ways from the corner), the views were considered standard. This is what upset me. I didn't understand how BWV/DVC could consider my view preferred, yet 3 doors down, it was standard. Not trying to debate you.....you may very well be correct here. I'm no expert. I've just heard different things over the past couple of years.

Then your room was past the corner I mentioned and thus consistent with the thoery that rooms past the corner room (x123) are preferred view. The numbers go up as you proceed away from the elevator, so on the 4th floor for example, you pass 4121 on the left, followed by 4123 which is the corner room (the last room facing the bus stop which we have stayed in and it was definitely a standard view room), then you clearly turn a corner and the next room (I assume 4125) would be facing the small canal and valet area which unfortunately is considered a water view which is preferred. So since your room was 4131 it was past the corner, facing the small canal, so it qualified as a water view which is preferred in Disney's book.

I agree your view was not what I would consider preferred (and I definitely wouldn't want to expend extra DVC points for it!)

I had a preferred view room on the 5th floor close to elavator can't remember the # but it had a closed balcony and view of trees, if you stood on a chair you could almost see the pool. I told MS and the front desk I would rather have a standard view for less points than that view. it was horrible and we do like to spend time on the balcony and all you saw was a wall .I had better standard view. so now I only ask for standard or BW view if I have a choice. if preferred who knows what you will get. I even asked to change to a standard view and I didn't ask for points back just a better view and they had none

Thanks for the explanation Pete. You're right.....DVC/BWV told me since I had a view of that small patch of water (canal) directly under my balcony, that it was considered "preferred". But in reality, 75% of the view was the valet parking lot. In all fairness, I could see the TOT off to the far right only when standing out on the balcony.

You have got me worried now I thought the more points you use the better the view ,we also like to sit on a balcony relaxing . Also how do you get a boardwalk view of the lake .

Even though the rooms cost the same number of points, the Boardwalk view rooms are a separate booking category from the Preferred View - Pool & Garden rooms. If you have one, it will say so on your confirmation letter. If you want one, you need to call MS and see if there are any left for your dates. You may waitlist for a Boardwak view room if you like.

Best wishes -

Happyj,
I didn't make any requests other than non-smoking and non-handicapped. Perhaps I should have asked for a pool view, but I didn't. We're only here two days, then we take a cruise. So it's just not a trip killer by any means. Just a very surprising slight disappointment.

It does seem to me that DVC management could get a team to go from room to room and rate the view from 1 to 10. Then the rooms with the crappiest views could be declared standard views.

Perhaps I should have asked for a pool view,
If we ever stay at BWV again, this is what we plan to do. Beats parking lot view for PV points.
