We are going to Disneyland next month for the Star Wars races. Since we never spend much time in our room, we are planning to stay in a budget motel. We have 3 booked right now and are trying to decide which to go with so we can cancel our reservations so they are free for others! Any opinions or advice on any of these?

1. Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

2. Knights Inn Anaheim - Maingate North

3. Americas Best Value Astoria Inn & Suites

They're all 2 star motels and will be around $100 a night - our expectations are set accordingly. :)

We are open to other budget level suggestions!

We stayed at Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate. It was worth the $77.xx we paid for the night. Very basic, but beds were comfortable.

Did you have any issues with cockroaches? The reviews on Yelp are filled with them...I highly doubt it's a widespread, ubiquitous problem, but I have to admit that all the pictures people posted made me worry that maybe the hotel was a little too cheap...

We love the Motel 6 Maingate and have stayed there many times. It is inexpensive and nothing fancy, but all we do is sleep and shower and it works for us! The rooms are big too!!

We were only there for 1 night, but I saw no evidence of any kind of nasty bugs or roaches in the room. I hadn't even heard of cockroaches in their rooms until just now.

I wouldn't pay more than $100/night to stay there, but for the $77 We paid, I was satisfied.

I've stayed there 8 times over the last 3 years and have never once seen a cockroach! Our room has always been clean!!

Another vote for Motel 6. I've stayed 3 times and it's always been clean and quiet. No frills, no fridge or micro but the beds have been comfy and the staff has always been friendly and efficient.

If you do this run in the future, book earlier! I have Desert Palms booked at about $140/night, and that includes a really decent breakfast for the 3 of us. And it's close to the starting line. (and I only switched from an AP rate at Anabella about 2 months ago) (I love Anabella but there's no included breakfast (unless you pay more) and we wanted breakfast, and DP was cheaper after we changed dates slightly)

For this trip, you also might want to check out websites like betterbidding.com, then brave a hotwire or priceline blind bid. By studying that website, you can get a really good idea of what hotel you're going to get. The time I did it I *knew* that it was going to be the Hilton or the Hyatt, by the amenities offered. I was sure to check out their websites, and so I knew that both had a hefty parking fee, etc. But the rate I got for the Hilton that night was stupendously good.

another vote for motel 6 , probably the cleanest budget int he area, no carpet, no furniture, and all bedding is washed. the only issue I ever had was the filth on top of the vending machines, being 6'6 i could see all aboce, as well as on all refrigerators in homes i visit- the mess was cleaned immediately on the vending machines.

We've had rooms booked since May, 2015 - in all price ranges. Now that it's closer, we are narrowing down our choices and have decided to go with a budget motel. One of the 3 we have narrowed our choices down to will be just fine for us.

Thanks everybody! We are going to go with our Motel 6 reservation. Only about $90/night and free parking for a simple, comfortable room sounds perfect to us. Thanks for reassuring me that it's a very decent choice!

another vote for Motel 6 Main Gate. I stayed there June 2015 June 2014 , June 2015 and will book in the new year for June 2016. No issues, beds are huge :) They have a small gift sore / convenience store in the lobby as well as vending machines, microwave and coffee. You can get the ART tickets at reception, Motel 6 is last pick up / first drop off on the Disney Art route
