I agree! I really dislike the name preston, it sounds like a snooty rich kids name and Cohen for a first name I don't like- it sounds more like someones last name. Blake Cohen sounds good though!

My cousin's name is Kylie and her son's name is Cohen...can't remember the middle name, but if your DH likes a more traditional name-why not something like Cohen Jacob (CJ), Cohen Matthew...Good luck. We didn't have a boy's name for #2 until he was delivered!

Sorry, I'm totally not a fan of the name Preston. Too yippy for my taste. Out of all of your names, Blake is my fav. What about Blake Elijah?

I didn't vote because I do like both. I also like Cohen Blake. I agree that Preston will probably increase in popularity.

Cohen Alexander-- I suggested this because I'm assuming your names are Tasha & Scott and Sasha is a nn for Alexander so that would be Tasha & Scott combined. Even if you never use Sasha the idea is still there.

Tasha, ya know my crazy friend I've told you about countless times, her last name is Cohen. So that writes it off as a possibility for me. And I agree that it's a little too much alliteration with Kylie.

That and when I was pregnant with Madison, we were stuck in an airport and some literally crazy woman was sitting next to us with her husband and tyrant son. She asked us what we were naming Madison and said with her son they had no name picked out at all. He was born and they wouldn't let them leave the hospital without a name. They thought about it forever but couldn't come up with anything. Then she rolled the baby's bassinet into the bathroom with her and noticed the Dr's last name on the nametag card and thought "Aha! That's what we'll name him!" And yep, you guessed it, Cohen was the dr's last name.

I'm sort of in the camp that likes Blake the best, but if you don't like it as a first name, I'd go with Preston.

Cohen sounds like 'coin'. I guess I just do not like the 'oi' sound.

Okay, I wasn't expecting so many votes for Blake as a first name but since I am getting that I guess I'd better clarify that we aren't using that as 1st name because dh's cousin named his son that. So that is off the list. Thanks for the suggestion though. We do like Blake which is why we are leaning toward using it as a middle name.

I was afraid people would see Preston as pretentious but forgot to list that as one of my reasons for not being sure about it. It's something else to think about.

I like the name Preston Blake.

I'm actually because I see your due date is June 27th and we're expecting our second child, also a son, on the same day....and Elijah was the name I really liked at first. My one problem with that was I don't like the knickname Eli and since we figured that's what would end up happening, it got nixed.

What's funnier is both Preston and Blake were names I tossed out as possibilities.

Congratulations to you too! And yes, that is too funny! I even tried to convince dh to use Elijah and call him Eli as a nickname but it was still a no-go. He said we could use it as middle name but I am probably not going to since we might have another child some day and I still am holding out hope that he will cave if we have another boy. But by then I might change my mind so who knows. I'm not totally against it as a middle name now just yet either so we'll see.

I know you said Cohen for the 1st name but you also like Bibical, for some reason I've got Isaiah Cohen in my mind.

Yep, suggested that and Isaac and Jacob and Elijah and Caleb (though not with the middle name Cohen since Caleb Cohen doesn't exactly do it for me!) and a dozen other names and he isn't budging at all. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I vote for Cohen. As a middle name, I would chose something like Matthew or Alexander. Cohen makes me think of Seth Cohen on The OC who I thought was hysterical and who Summer called Cohen sometimes. Good choice. Congratulations!

Actually, I knew a Cohen years ago. My brother is deaf and Cohen was a boy who was also deaf and so sweet and so I had a good association with the name due to that. He's the only Cohen I had ever met in real life. Then the OC came out and there was Seth Cohen and he was so freakin' cute. I thought Cohen sounded good then too and dh thought I only liked it because I liked the actor that played him. Okay, so I do think the actor's cute but that isn't why I like the name...though it didn't hurt.

Anyway, thanks everybody! You've definitely given me something to think about. Oh, I've also known 2 Prestons IRL and I do admit they were kind of rich kids and one was a pretentious snob. The other one was super sweet and gorgeous too so that didn't hurt my view of the name after meeting him. The other one did knock the name down a bit though.

My choice for middle name with Cohen would be Mark. Sounds good together, and has the traditional name you wanted.

Makes me think of one of the docs where I worked in FL...Mark Cohan.

It's ultimately your choice. I couldn't go with Braxton. There was a kid the same age as my son in FL two doors away with that name. What a brat and a trouble maker. I'm more the traditional name type. Good luck!

I think Preston Blake sounds too pretentious. If you're going with a trendy name (not a fan here), I think you need a traditional name to balance it out. When naming our children, I pictured them as tall, thin, attractive, and successful, and how the names would work, and then I pictured them short, fat, and nerdy, and how the names would work. Ended up with Kate, Anna, Jack, and Charlie!

I voted for Cohen, and like it very much.
I went to school with a boy named Preston, and frankly always felt sorry for him - the other boys teased him about his name and said he was a "sissy boy" which of course he really wasn't. I wouldn't go in that direction.

I like the name Cullen rather than Cohen. Something like Cullen Andrew or even Cullen Bradley.

Cohen Bradley isn't bad either!!
