We are currently pregnant with our 2nd child and are expecting a boy. It has been WWIII agreeing on a name this time around. I am leaning toward more classic, biblical names this time (Elijah and Jacob for example) but dh hates them.
He seems to like trendier names (Braxton for example) and I am not a fan of most of his choices. So to make a long story short, we went through multiple baby name books, several baby naming websites, etc. and we have only been able to agree on a total of 2 baby names out of the thousands we have seen! Our tastes just do not match on boy's names (ironically, we agree on girl names so doesn't that just figure?!) so agreeing on 2 names is a miracle.
Anyway, our choices are either Cohen (pronounced like Co-en) or Preston Blake. We haven't agreed on a middle name for Cohen at this point. Dh likes Blake for it too but I don't. Preston Blake works for me though on that choice if we were to go with Preston.
Dh likes Cohen the best but I'm still not sure. We have a dd named Kylie and I worry that Cohen and Kylie are too similar in sound but I have been told that they aren't that close. BUT on the plus side, it is not a really popular name so I don't worry about my ds becoming a Cohen J. and having other Cohens in his class so much.
As far as Preston, it is gaining in popularity and finally made the top 100 baby names list for 2007 (#97) so I worry about my ds being one of many Prestons but it's still not a deciding factor overall I guess. Kylie was not a really popular name when we came up with it in 2005. Her name had just made the top 100 list and was at 90 something that year. By 2007, it is now #32 on the list. I worry Preston will do the same thing. BUT I wouldn't change Kylie's name and still love it so I suppose that is not a big deal in the long run for me. Besides, Elijah and Jacob are both extremely popular and I still would have used those. Yes, I am definitely overanalyzing things, lol!
Anyway, the baby will definitely have one of those 2 names since it's all we can agree on but now we aren't sure which one to go with and I am having the hardest time deciding. I like them both and just can not decide!
What do you think? Which one do you like best? If you like Cohen, then what middle name would you suggest with it? Thanks for your opinions!
ETA: Thought I should add this in the OP since it keeps coming up. I posted about it in another post but that seems to have been skipped by most people I think. Anyway, using Blake as a first name is not an option since dh's cousin named his son that. We do like the name but it would be too confusing to have 2 Blakes in the family which is why we are thinking about using it for a middle name instead. Thought I should clarify! The choices are still going to be either Preston or Cohen.

. We have a Michael and up until his sophomore year in high school he has never had another Michael in anything, go figure.
because I see your due date is June 27th and we're expecting our second child, also a son, on the same day....and Elijah was the name I really liked at first. My one problem with that was I don't like the knickname Eli and since we figured that's what would end up happening, it got nixed.
