I noticed on the Inside the Magic site that they show 2 different Cuisinart ice cream makers that you can use to make Dole Whip at home. I assume you can use basically any ice cream makers though? We have a Kitchenaid & I was wondering if buying the ice cream making attachment would allow me to make the Dole Whips? Does anyone know if this is the case? And does anyone know what that ice cream attachment from Kitchenaid generally costs?

Thanks!

Just curious if anyone has used other ice cream makers to make the Dole Whip at home and has any recommendations. Or has anyone out there used the Kitchenaid ice cream attachment to make the Dole Whip?

The ice cream attatchment for the KitchenAid usually runs between 80-100 dollars, the only problem that I would see with that is its not for soft serve icecream, I think you'd need a soft serve machine to make a dole whip....but I guess you could try:confused3

Tell me what DOle Whips are Please?????????THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DW is the big Dole Whip fan. But it's a soft serve pineapple slushy type deal. Very very tasty.

Dole Whips have cult-following status.

It's basically pineapple flavored soft served ice cream but it's non dairy. It's served in a yummy waffle cone or a dish, or you can have it made into a float, etc. They sell them at Disneyworld and in Hawaii at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.

I'm guessing I may just have to go with the $99 Cuisinart ice cream maker. Haven't really heard too many alternatives that seem to do the job.

I just got the Kitchenaid ice cream attachment. I paid $69 @ Kohls.com (after cpn). We've been making ice cream every night. Before you freeze it, it does sorta have the consistency of a dole whip (like soft serve). But it gets hard after you freezxe it. There may be a recipe online for a dole whip, or pineapple ice cream.

If only shipping weren't half the cost.

I bought from that site and use a Cuisinart ice cream maker (the kind where you freeze the bowl). With a 20% off coupon at Bed bath and beyond I got it for less than $40 :) Makes GREAT dole whips. . . though I modified the recipe and use about 3/4 of the water it says and the other 1/4 with pineapple juice. . . both taste yummy, I just think it has a better texture with the juice too :)

So you bought the cheaper version & are happy with it?
