Which airline has best service?

Every airline will have good & bad points. Every airline has their fans and their haters. I prefer Delta, others like Southwest, still others like United or US Air. Others simply like the cheapest. A lot will depend on what airlines are at your available airport.

But since you say you're a very nervous flyer, then the quality of service is probably not as important to you as an airline's safety record.

Air travel is so safe that it is pointless to even consider the idea when flying in the United States. What kind of service are you looking for?

Sounds like a job for Route Happy!

This is a flight search tool (similar to Expedia, Travelocity, etc), but it provides customer reviews of the various flights (and legs of a flight), much like yelp and trip adviser.

Search for your route on the days you'd like, and it should give a good starting point for you. Then, pick the flights you like and buy the ticket or call the airlines to buy the tickets from them (two one-way tickets are as good and as expensive and a round trip these days).

OP--that's a hard question to answer. With every carrier, you will find good and bad reviews. We have had great service on United, Southwest, Delta, American, British Air, Swiss. We have had awful service on United, Southwest, Delta, American, British Air, Swiss. Pick whichever airline has the best price and schedule for you. Then, have a nice glass of wine prior to boarding!

Probably true, at least according to Condo Nest. Singapore Air has direct or N/S service to very few cities from Orlando. Do they even have more then one? Won't help the OP much.

JetBlue seems to have the highest score of airlines which offers reasonable service to MCO passengers.

Jetblue probably has the most distractions on the plane.

1. Television in the seat back in front of you at every seat.
2. DirecTV and Sirius (or XM - always forget which is which)
3. Free snacks

Another thing to look for are non-stop flights (only 1 takeoff and 1 landing). If necessary, don't forget you can ask your doctor for an anti-anxiety med like Xanax.

A non-stop flight has one take off and one landing. A direct flight can have one, or more, stops but doesn't require changing planes. A connecting flight not only has a stop but you change planes, hence a second flight number.

Once again OP, you need to find out what airlines are at your home airport (or other airports close enough to you). I'd love to fly Jetblue (never have), but they don't fly into my home airport. To use SW, I'd have a two hour+ drive.

Be careful with that not changing planes bit about "direct" flights. While generally true, there are instances where the "direct" flight is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It will say "change of gauge" or something similar. These are in effect connecting flights, but have the same flight number.

Sometimes the change of gauge plane is not even close to the landing gate of the first flight. It might even be in a different terminal.

I can't think of a specific example right now. But until Northwest was absorbed into Delta, NW Flight #7 started in Philadelphia on one plane, swapped to another plane in Minneapolis, flew to Seattle, then switched to a third plane to fly to Tokyo. And then a fourth plane from Tokyo to various other Asian cities depending on the day of the week. All Flight #7. Reverse direction was the same for flight #8.

I believe I've seen a few similar instances for Southwest for "direct" flights through Chicago Midway.

And yet the two most ridiculous moments I've had with an airline happened with Jet Blue; on the flight down to San Diego and then while checking in to the flight home from San Diego. Never flew them again, probably never will. And no distraction in the form of a TV screen for me, as mine was broken. I got to watch DH's inappropriate-for-our-son show (DS couldn't see it) or DS's cartoons the whole flight long. UGH. No reason to deal with that airline for me, since there are so many others.

Though I think DH's rudest experience was on Jazz where the Flight Attendant was rude from the moment she saw him. (lovely to those around him, awful to him)


Many don't particularly appreciate United, but on our last flight out to MCO I encountered a lovely flight attendant who took some time to notice that I was nervous (the older I get the more nervous I'm finding myself on flights) and help me out. Explained what turbulence was, etc etc, and he managed to do it in a way that helped tremendously. Loved him!

Also had the most awesomely sarcastic/sardonic FA on United which made that flight tremendously fabulous for me. For someone else who dislikes that sort of humor they could have been sitting next to me and had a rotten flight.



If you live in a city where Virgin American flies to MCO from, I highly recommend them. I've actually had one weird FA moment with them, but I don't care even a little bit because the rest of the flight and all the subsequent flights I've had with them have been so awesome.

I hadn't flown in 12 years, I don't like to fly, and I was taking my 9 year old child with mild autism on a plane for the first time...talk about nervous flying!!!

We flew JetBLue non-stop Newark to MCO (and back) and it was a great experience. I would definitely fly them again. The staff was friendly, the TVs were a great distraction for both of us, and we enjoyed checking in on our progress on the flight path "channel" on the TV. Both flights were faster than scheduled, although our return was delayed a loonnnggg time in leaving, which was almost our undoing. But it wasn't JetBlue's fault.

Of course, since I have flown all of twice in the last 12 years (to WDW and back), my opinion may not be worth much.
