We may be doing the dining plan in September. Possibly staying at POR or BCR. We will probably have an extra table service credit so would like to go to try 2 credit meal. Never been to any of them before. Will be me, DH, and two kids (10, 7). Any suggestions? Thinking about maybe HDDR or Artist Point or Jiko. Thanks!!

It depends on whether you want to have a fun time with familiar comfort food which would be Hoop De Doo or dinner at a restaurant where the food is the focus.

Both Artist Point and Jiko have excellent menus and service. Jiko has the more ambitious menu with some dishes with African influences. The boar tenderloin and the Inguday Tibs appetizers and the filet and Peri Peri Chicken were delicious. Before or after dinner you can go out on the walkways to view the animals and talk with the CMs. If it's dark out you can see the animals with night vision goggles on the Uzima Savanna Overlook.

Artist Point is equally delicious, but the offerings are more familiar. Our favorites were the Smokey Portobello Mushroom Soup, the Cedar Plank Salmon, the Buffalo steak and the Berry Cobbler.

We've never been to Jiko or HDDR, but we loved Artist Point. We thought the atmosphere was nice and the food was amazing (particularly the filet and salmon).

I agree with Purple Figment...it really depends on what kind of experience you want to have.

HDDR is a fun experience, with the emphasis being on the entertainment. Most people seem to say that kids love HDDR. (I haven't been in a very long time, so I don't really remember the details.)

Artist Point and Jiko are both Signature restaurants, where the focus is on food and service. Both are excellent and I would be happy to eat at either. :)
