We just returned from WDW on Monday, and I had the SSR brochure in the mail. Not sure when it came, so maybe this has already been beaten to death. The point chart in the brochure is interesting. There was speculation that the points would be similar to OKW, but in actuality they are very close to the points required to stay at BCV, BWV preferred, and WLV. Maybe one point less per night. And the Grand Villas are twice as much per night during the week as OKW, though similar for weekends. I guess DVC considers SSR a prime location. For my part, I'd rather stay at an Epcot resort if the points are nearly the same. What do you guys think?

I don't have the points chart in front of me right now, but I thought SSR was more in the middle of OKW and the rest (not counting BW standard). *Example 2 br BCV in summer 40 points/ OKW 30/ SSR 36.

I think the "jury is in" on the the question of whether or not we will see point charts like OKW again, and the answer is no.
Disney essentially had to guess at what people would pay per point and additionally how many points to charge for each unit...it didn't take them long to figure out that they guessed low, and hence the increase not only in per point price, but also the number of points need for each unit.
Frankly, I don't see any of this as a negative. In this case price increases indicate a strong demand for the product and have subsequently created a wide variety of resorts from which to choose.
