Where's the Lime???? Sept. 2006

Can one have an epilogue to a trip of such short duration?? As Bob Vila likes to say, “Might as well!”

Following our little weekend with The Mouse, I’m amazed at just how much Leo took in while we were at WDW, and even more amazed at how much he remembers and continues to share now, a month later. He still talks about how roller coasters are his “favorite” and explains to anyone who will listen the exciting things to be found on the “airplane coaster” (Goofy’s Barnstormer) and the “train coaster” (Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). Leo also insisted on watching Peter Pan about a thousand times since our trip. He has a train table and has recreated his version of WDW on it, complete with coasters, a train, spinny-type rides, food service, and a parking lot of matchbox cars. I think he’s officially hooked! :cheer2:

If you’ll recall with me, this little trip evolved from my planning and preparations for our annual December trip and, appropriately, I learned quite a few valuable tidbits to take into that upcoming trip:
I shall not take shortcuts without first consulting a map.
I shall reiterate my room requests before the CM begins the check-in process, hopefully leading to a room located closer than Siberia to food and parking.
I shall not freak out if Leo suddenly develops a new fear; I shall remember that he’s a smart little guy and will figure it out with some encouragement and support.
I shall include table service meals at which we can all relax and enjoy having someone else take care of food duties.
I shall not forget to enjoy our resort by walking around and really looking at what it offers.
I shall make plans in advance if I want to ensure a DIS meeting, but will otherwise still enjoy keeping an eye out for lime!

My Focker Watching expedition was a bust, but I did get to meet Glendamax, which was very, very cool! "Where's the lime???" Why, it's right here, in our fun little DIS world, and if I can't find it in WDW, I know where to go :thumbsup2

I want to thank everyone who’s read along and responded so positively. I came into this report with no expectations and am leaving it having had a great deal of fun! In case you haven’t had enough yet, I welcome you to join me in the preliminary stages of our next WDW adventure It's Not Christmas Until We Visit The Mouse! (click here)

See you in December!

Thanks for a great TR and sharing your cutie-patootie. So glad he's becoming a coaster boy!

Hi PrincessV
Just wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying your TR...I am up to page 4. I give you many, many kuddos for taking your DS to WDW alone. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: GO! GO! PrincessV I can only imagine the work that is involved....heck, even with 2 adults it is a ton of work. BTW, your DS is a cutie pie!!!!

We were at the world at the same time and I was also looking for fellow Dissers and LGMH. Wish our paths would have crossed. :)

I wish we'd have met, too! I've so been enjoying your TR. Glad you're getting a kick out of mine, too.
Thanks for the cheers! If there's one thing I've learned since becoming a single mom, it's that we mamas need to cheer each other, no matter what our individual situations. It's one tough job!

PrincessV---Had to finish your trip report and let you know how much I enjoyed it as I was previously just a lurker. I love your brave, beautiful little man...he's such a cutie. Didn't see any more DISers? I was just dying to "fock" somebody! I only ran across one group of DISers and asked another lady point blank if she was a TGMer. Thanks for reading/posting on my trip report! Hope you get to ride RnRC on your next trip...... ;)

Yay - thanks for joining in! Nope, no more DIS sightings, I'm afraid. I'm taking a new approach when I head over for the Food & Winde Fest - not counting on finding anyone at all and maybe I'll be surprised! :rotfl:

Thank YOU for reading along! I can't tell how relieved I am that I've produced a coaster boy ;)

Thanks for the great TR!

Wish I was able to do "quick trips" but being from your old stopping grounds (Buffalo, NY) I can't drive it as easily! Oh well. :confused3

Princess V,

Great TR! I am impressed with myself when I can take one kid to the grocery store, much less to WDW and still be smiling at the end!

We will also be at the house of Mouse 12/19-12/27! I'll be sporting LGMC, strollers and what not! Maybe we'll meet.

BTW, what kind of "grown ups" are we talking about at F&W? Hot single men types? If so, we want to hear ALL about that, especially if drinking is involved!

I just hope that some of Leo 's enthusiasm rubs off on my two!

Hey girl,
I just finished up your little epilogue. I had a great time reading your adventures with little Leo! I know I've told you before, but I truely admire you for taking on the Mouse House with a toddler solo. You're a great mama! How blessed Leo is to see such a brave and independant woman in his mama! You've got style! :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm off to read the new pre-TR with my lime green eyes! You're so lucky to be able to visit WDW so often!

Thanks for your report! I was just telling my Mother that I would like to visit Disney in December 2007! I REALLY want to go then, I hope it won't be too cold if I get to go though!

LOL, that’d be quite a weekend, eh?! (Haaad to throw in a little “eh” in tribute to our neighbors to the North of Buff. ;) ) When I was MUCH younger, I did the drive between Buffalo and Tampa straight through, 22ish hours. I can’t even get to Atlanta on my own anymore!

Here’s the crazy thing – it was MUCH easier to take Leo to WDW than it is to take him to the grocery store. I think he gets a little intimidated by everything going on at The World and it keeps him in line!

Alas, my holiday trip is 12/1-12/6, so our paths won’t cross this time. But one never knows when I might pop over for a quick day visit!

LOL – unless I stumble across some, no, no hot single men types of grown-ups this trip! Actually, only one guy in our group of crazy women, poor thing.

Here’s some pixie dust for your kiddos! :wizard:

Thank you so much! I will now admit that I was a lot more scared of taking on The Mouse with Leo than I admitted in this TR. Looking back, I wish I would’ve done it sooner!

Thanks for jumping into my new one, too! Any trip involving my mother has ample opportunity for some craziness and possibly angst… we shall see.

Thanks for reading my report!

You guys should absolutely think about a Dec. trip – it really is an amazing time of year to visit. You have to keep in mind my FL blood when I talk about “cold” at WDW – if it falls below 70, I’ve got a wool jacket on! But there was one Christmas I spent at Epcot that was truly cold: I had wool tights under jeans, plus a pair of wool socks, turtleneck, cashmere sweater, wool jacket, and gloves. My toes were absolutely numb and, I swear, felt like they were in the first stages of frostbite. We just laughed at each other as we watched Illuminations (or whatever it was then), thinking we were nuts to be so cold in FL! Until we were driving home that night and heard on the radio that Orlando just hit a record low of 30 degrees, with a wind chill of 22! But that’s not the norm, at all. Last year, we wore jeans, long sleeve T-shirts and the occasional sweater the whole time. Perfect for looking at decorations!

It just took me 40 minutes to get through your whole Trip Report. I love reading TR's that are done.

In a few weeks, I'll move it over to the Completed TR Boards.

Yikes - 40 minutes for a weekend trip?! I'm more long-winded than I thought! Unfortunately, if what I've got so far is any indication, the next one is unlikely to be any less long-winded

Thanks for reading, and for keeping us all organized! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! Unless a miracle happens - I have NO vacation time left -I will have to try for December 2007. IF I get to go, I hope that you and some others here can go at the same time so we can see each other. Hopefully by the spring, I'll know if I can go then! I'm going to start praying now!

I enjoyed your trip report with Leo. He is so precious! We just got back from WDW last night, after a 12 hour drive. I am so tired, and doing a lot of laundry.

Just decided to catch up on all that I missed. What is up with the bouncing Halloween Mickey head? That is new since I left. I am working on a trip report. My notes take up 6 pages of a small notebook. I am just trying to come up with a clever title for it.:scratchin

Thanks again for sharing your experience with us.

:rotfl2: I think our kids must be twinsies - I'd rather get a root canal than take my two into the grocery store - compared to that, Disney was a piece of cake ;)

GREAT trippie - thanks so much for sharing it! :cheer2:
