Where is the best buffet dinner? Why? (describe)

Well, I've eaten at a number of excellent buffets around WDW. But with kids the age of yours, I suggest Chef Mickey's. The food was great, and the character interaction was terrific. All of us, adults and kids alike, completely enjoyed our dinner there in Dec.

Have a great trip! :D

....is my favorite, hands down! I am not too big on character meals, so that is not very important to me.
Boma serves many delicious and interesting dishes, so unless you are a picky eater, it is wonderful :) . The surroundings are also gorgeous, of course. The AKL is so stunning that it's worth going to eat at Boma just to take in the AKL.
My 2nd favorite is Cape May Cafe, although I think the food quality used to be better.

For a chacater buffet .....1900 Park Fare at GF.

For non-character.......BOMA @ AKL

For value.....End of the Trail @FWCG

I have to agree with Boma's for best all-round buffet, but if you are looking for a character buffet, we always enjoy the Crystal Palace at MK. The setting is gorgeous, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore visit you, and we always find lots of foods we like.

For non-character meals, we also love O'hana, which is not technically a buffet, but is all you can eat. The Poly atmosphere is fabulous, the games they play with the children are fun, and the food is really good - appetizers that include shrimp wontons, chicken wings, salad, and veg., grilled meats such as tiger shrimp, turkey, pork and beef. YUM!!:sunny:

For non character meal - Cape May Cafe at Beach Club

For character meal - 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian

Both have lots of choices (kid friendly)

Sorry, I didn't notice your kids' ages! Boma wouldn't be the best choice with little kids. Any character meal would be a good choice - maybe one of the quieter ones so your youngest wouldn't get too overwhelmed! Lots of people like Chef Mickey's, but we found it very loud, and the food very mediocre.
Where are you staying? Are you looking for a buffet at a resort, or in one of the parks?

Boma even though you have little kids. All the buffets have pretty much the same kids food, but Boma has the best for adults
IMHO. If you are foodies like my DH and I you get the best of both worlds at Boma. My DS (5) ate only off the kids side, but my DD (9) ate Prime rib and loved it. Plus everyone is happy with the desserts. Of course my kids like Chef Mickey's dinner better...

I think buffets are horrible when you have little kids. You balance your plate and theirs - or fill up your plate and let them eat off it and discover that you didn't grab any grown up food. Up and down over and over while you get more of somethng they will eat, plus your own food. You need to have at least one additional adult for each kid that can't handle their own buffet plate (your six year old might, so you may do fine).

We prefer family style all you can eat - Ohanas, Garden Grill and Whispering Canyon all serve this sort of meal. There are fewer offerings (there are over eighty items on the Boma buffet!), but its less of an operational nightmare.

We have done buffets with our kids. We don't rave over Boma like most people do, but it was good (although out of the way - particularly if you are dependant on Disney transportation and not staying at AKL). We've also eaten at Biergarten in Germany and enjoyed that more (fewer offerings, but I love German food!).

Boma: best overall. I went with my boys ages 5 and 3 and they loved it. The food is great. They have the standard kids' buffet with mac and cheese, chicken fingers, etc. as well.

For character meal: either 1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace. Both were great- it depends on the characters you're interested in.

Our family really enjoyed Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club- our kids were 5 and not quite two when we went and there was something for everyone. It wasn't as raucous as Chef Mickey's and made for a more enjoyable meal. Afterwards we really enjoyed walking around to the Boardwalk and the kids played in the sand a little bit by the Beach Club- a very nice evening.

The food includes seafood, as well as plenty of landlubber choices- prime rib, baked chicken, ribs, salads, veggies, breads, great desserts and chicken strips/macncheese/hotdogs & fish nuggets in the kid's section (although they may eat anything).

In a park: Crystal Palace

In a resort: 'Ohana (again, technically not a "buffet")

We had been to CP for breakfasts, but on our Dec 03 trip we tried it for dinner. Wow! I was really impressed! It was the one meal of our 8 day trip that everyone loved! I mean really, really loved!

We enjoy going to 'Ohana for the very reasons a PP mentioned, not having to get up and get our kids meals. Plus, the atmosphere at the Poly can't be beat after a long day at the parks! You can relax, taking your time over your meal while the kids either participate in the activities or watch, either way they do get occupied.

Others that we like include: GG in Epcot and H&V in MGM

P.S. We haven't had the opportunity to try Boma yet

Whispering Canyon Cafe??????

My DS (6 & 3) absolutely love this place. Not exactly buffet style, but all-you-can-eat.

The antics and pony races would be perfect for them.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is in the beautiful Wilderness Lodge.

Another vote for Boma...While it's not a character meal, your kids will enjoy seeing the animals before and/or after dinner. The food is wonderful and the wonderful aroma is unforgetable!!
