Where's all the T-Rex Love??

My grandson wanted to eat here, however, there are no seats/times available at all the entire week we are there:confused3

Was wondering if they would have any luck getting there early for lunch to try to get in.

I tried booking a reservation for 1PM for Friday online and results cue back "nothing available from 1pm - 3PM". So I then called, gave the same info, and they said they had space available at 1PM. I still would have showed up around 1PM for a walk in because I find it impossible to believe we wouldn't be able to get a table.

I liked the drinks and the food was fine when we went in 2009.

My son really wants to go back and get the bone drink and some clothes for his dino Kevin. So that's where we shall go!
It helps that I have a .99 kids meal coupon to help defray the costs

We loved our two trips to T-Rex. thought the food was good, and the atmosphere, well that was awesome too. Myself, and 2 of my kids are Dino Crazy so they loved it there, though we were in the "ice cave" both times, would like to eat in another area next time LOL. I *WILL* say this one thing about the managing company. They are, well, kind of shady, a pain to deal with and Slow slow slow to solve a problem. We ate there in May last year, and shopped in the Build a dino (lunch for 6, dinos for 3 kids plus clothes, we dropped some money..sheesh, this was before it was on the dining plan) anyway, come september, I get a 140 dollar charge on my bank account from Landry's. it took 4 weeks for them to reverse that, and credit the money back to my account, after first telling me that there was no way it happened to charge me a second time. Someone somewhere screwed up and re-ran that entire days charge record. Will I eat there again? Yep, kids love it will I pay with my card, nope. I realize it's a rare occurance, but will only do cash or disney gift cards to eat there again.

t-rex does not release all the tables to Disney. they kee[ back some for themselves. I couldn't get the night I wanted from disney. I called t-rex directly, and they took my reservation.

where did you find the coupon? thanks!

I'm being serious. It's great for its setting and mediocre for its food quality. Doesn't that go for every restaurant in Disney!

That definitely goes for lots of them! ;)

Cali Grill imo is pretty darn good. Teppan Edo is better than your chain Benihana's (again just my opinion). Les Chefs de France does food a cut above. I even think San Angel's sopa Azteca is a very decent rendition (I live in Texas and I lived in Mexico so I feel kinda qualified to say it's good). Jiko is excellent and Boma for a buffet is also very good. Brown Derby is also good. And again, my opinion only, but I think all the previously mentioned places are leagues above poor maligned T-rex (and Rainforest and in general that whole collection of restaurants). I also think they are substantially overpriced even for WDW.

Anyways we always eat at T-Rex, mediocre food or not cause my son insists. The interior is fun and I get fleeced in the dino store. So it gets plenty of financial love. :lovestruc

We love Trex! We go every trip! Already have our Sept ADR for day before our cruise!

DH loves the country fried steak, I always order footprints flatbread off appys menu for my meal! Love the cotontini!

It's always a must do for my Grandsons.

To the poster that stated they couldn't get a reservation, call T-Rex directly. We are going in August and I started making adrs in February. Well I couldn't get anything past 4:00 for any night of my trip according to the disney website. Then someone here suggested to call directly. I did and the lady said I could have any time any day of our trip. I also recently called last week again to change my nights because we switched up our schedule and no problem. They made it sound like you could get a reservation pretty close up to your actual trip. Good luck. We made ours and I know my 8 year old son is going to enjoy it.

Thanks! I called T-Rex directly yesterday and was able to get a 7:15 reservation. My grandson was so excited!:goodvibes

We LOVE T-Rex. We are on the free Quick Service Dining Plan this year and this is our 1 must-do out of pocket restaurant. Can't go there and not do at least that or Rainforest. That's a huge thing that we look forward to on our vacation. Every now and then when we're throwing around dinner ideas we say "how bout T-Rex". :drive: We're only 900 miles away. LOL! Can't wait!

I've taken two groups of college students (we were at a conference) and they all loved it. My family is going in November. :)

It's loud, but the food was good and it's fun!

Looking forward to trying our next trip. I've always wanted to give it a try but it seems we never get around to going to DTD.

Our summer trip we're doing our first split stay so I thought now is the time to try T-Rex. We'll check out of POP, take the bus to DTD for lunch, then boat ride over to POR. I'm even excited about the travel plans :goodvibes

Oh, and glad to have read on this board about calling T-Rex direct, couldn't get the time I wanted on WDW on-line dining but calling them direct got exactly what I wanted :cool1:

TRex is a must do for us every trip. The kids (now 16 and 11) still ask for it every visit. We go primarily for the experience but have always had good food as well. Staff were always accomodating to special requests and we don't mind any extra wait time as it is just more time for us to enjoy the effects.

For those having trouble getting reservations, definitely call the restaurant directly. On one trip we had a last minute schedule change and were unable to make a reservation in advance. We were already in DTD and decided to give it a shot. The wait was 90 minutes. I called them from my cell phone and they said be there in 20 minutes and they could get us in. We shopped for 20 minutes and came back and we moved right to the front and were seated within 5 minutes. I am sure that was a rare exception but definitely a great experience for us. pixiedust: We always call to book our reservations directly instead of through Disney.

We are on the QSDP also. T-rex or rainforest is a must for the girls. I prefer rainforest since I don't drop another 75.00 for build a dinos. LOL. We also pay op for one character meal.

Our t-rex meal last year after the .99 kids coupons was under 75.00 and the kids had to have those light up cups and we had a appetizers. This year I'm guessing it will be less since I have a 25.00 credit on my landry's card for my b-day.:)

cana nyone tell me where they got the 99 cent coupon for kids? please????:)

We enjoyed it, but I am never eating in the ice cave again. It would be one thing if the lighting was normal, at least for a little while, but it is blue the entire time, with red flashes. After a while, we all felt sick. And it makes the food look really unappetizing. The other rooms looked much better. To this day justthinking about it I feel a bit sick to my stomach.

Aside from lighting and the noise (totally expected) the food was great, the service was great, everyone had a wonderful time. Next time we are going to budget more time, because we didn't get to go to the sandbox or Build a Dino. We will definitely go again. :)

Absolutely! After all, why does one go to that Victoria and Albert's but for the low-brow Victorian burlesque floor show at the late seating? Seeing those modern strumpets expose an ankle certainly does give one a bit of the twitch in the old stiff upper lip, what what?

We are going to try TRex for the first time on our upcoming June trip with our grandson and DD. I am very excited to try it.

I would also love to find out how to get the .99 kids meal coupon!

I'd love to go here to check out the decor. We probably won't eat there as the menu does not have much to offer the "herbavors". Daughter does not eat meat and she didn't see anything on the menu that she might like.
