Where you popular in High School

only fer my wit and brian ...... ;)

It's the reunions....whar I need the bodyguards!

I was regarded the same way in high school as I am here. I was a jock/nerd and intensely shy in high school though (most people knew who I was-but we had a small high school). Now I'm mostly nerdy/somewhat shy (but I'm not a jock anymore-I'm not sure if anyone here knows who I am).;)

with 2000+ other kids - It was hard to be popular with that many kids in one school!!Although I got along with pretty much everyone.

But again, I played the clarinet.....and tried out for Flag Girl (got to wear cute little uniforms with knee high white boots and do drills with the flags) and lost again - I was told I was too good a musician to waste my talents wasting a flag - some consolation.

Our band was fun! I went to high school in Florida so we got to go to WDW, played at Miami Dolphins football games, Orange Bowl parades, etc. Plus we got to go to all our HS games.

It was semi-POPULAR to be in band.

I'm in high school now, and I'm definitely not popular! Actually there's 2 "popular cliques" at my high school...there's the cheerleaders/jocks, and then there are the people who don't play any sports, but look like models.

But I'm a band geek! Band isn't actually looked upon as being really nerdy, but I'm one of the few people in marching band who has more friends outside of band than in band. All of my non-band friends tease me (if I hear "One time? At band camp?" one more time I think I'll scream!), but I have more fun than them anyway.:p

OMG Skuttle! Flute here too! Piccolo for Junior/Senior years marching band and Flags my sophmore year! This is too funny! See how us Dis'ers have so much in common? We got to march in the main street parade my Junior year...spring of '79, back when the parks had the ticket books and everyone wanted the "E" TIX. Man, I had to hawk a LOT of chocolate candy bars to earn enough $ to go in that trip. What a blast tho. I am so happy my DD is in band now.

Definately not popular. I went to a school with over 4000 kids so it was easy to get lost in the crowd. I wished at that time that I was popular, that I could have been a cheerleader or top athlete. What I was in reality is just an average student.

Looking back now I don't think I applied myself as much as I could have, but I did enjoy myself (as much as one who isn't popular can enjoy that period of thier life). I know I'm a much happier person now and I know that many of those who were oh so popular then are not.

Hardly!

I was involved in a lot of activities but the "popular" people tended to be the athletes. Science nerds weren't "in".

Things changed in College. I was still involved in tons of activities but there were none of the old HS cliques anymore. Athletes were still popular but so were a lot of different people.

Sort of, but it wasn't the good kind of popular. :teeth: What ever you call it, I have one heck of a good time in high school! :p :p

Well i dont want to wait 4 months to answer to this thread (graduation is June 13th), but i would say that i am one of the "popular" kids. I am a Varsity cheer capt, i am in ASB (associated student body-student government/council WHATEVER you want to call it), i hang out with cheerleaders/football players/ basketball players... but i also have friends from different groups.

I was pretty popular, but not exactly "cool." I was a good student who didn't really "party," so that precluded me from being cool. But I was Senior Class Vice President and Senior Homecoming Attendant and other stuff like that. There were some "cool" girls who hated me and my friends, though. I'm still friends with lots of my classmates now, 20 years later (and I have the same best friend I've had since I was 11). We had a really nice class. Now, even the "cool" crowd is nice and friendly - we all get along.

I don't really know. I talked to everyone and everyone talked to me. I didn't hold an office, but then again I didn't run for one. Everyone liked me I think.

I guess I was right in the middle.

Now, Seth on the other hand. I think he is the most popular in his kindergarten class. But he is a brown nosier like his mom.

No not really, but I went to really small high school where everyone knew everybody else. I was the one who made good grades and ruined the curve for everyone else.;)

This would be my reply, too!!!:) :bounce:

I can go along with what daughter_of_amid_chaos said. I was in a school that only had about 175 people and my class only had 30. It was more like a sisterhood than a class and we were always there for each other no matter what. I definitely preferred it to the public school that I attended for Freshman year.

My three best friends were voted:
Most Popular
Most Congenial
Best Dressed

I always joked that I was Most Invisible. I tried to go through life unnoticed, but rode on the above three's coattails. Miss Most Popular is still my best friend, we email every day, talk on phone at least once per week. A few years ago for her 40th birthday we went away and ran into Most Athletic who was a big bully girl. Well big bully girl started telling me how weird I was in high school, I said excuse me -- who in the h$%^ does she think she is? Miss Most Popular got a real kick out of it and said I was being too sensitive, I said oh sure, like you had one minute of angst in high school. She then went off on how "hard" it is too be popular because you have to be nice to everyone and I was lucky I just told people exactly what I thought, etc. etc. We both had a pretty good laugh, I don't think anyone is ever 100% happy with their high school pecking order.

no...i was in the "freaks" groups...

middle-of-the-road. Had cheerleaders as friends, had nerds as friends, had druggies as friends. I liked everyone, just the same as now. :D
