Hi,

If you ring MS to waitlist a room, are they able to tell you roughly how long the current waitlist is, or indeed what no. you are in the queue??

I was considering ringing to waitlist a room, but didn't want to get too excited, so thought it would be good to know if I was at the end of a very long queue!!

Many thanks for any info:thumbsup2

Sorry, MS does not tell you where you are on the waitlist.

thanks Jean for your reply:thumbsup2 Thats a shame, not sure if I will bother to wait list - as I know that I would be checking my account everyday:lmao: - at least if they would say, 'the waitlist is really long' or 'there doesn't seem to be too many in front of you' - then at least I would know whether to get my hopes up or not!!:goodvibes

I think it might be too stressful for my little head to worry about!!:goodvibes

Hi:thumbsup2

I think I would normally, but this year I have currently booked VB for 30th & 31st Dec, and am talking about waitlisting either BWV (but only Boardwalk view:lmao:) and BCV - And as I am quite sure that there is no chance, I know that I am probably setting myself up for disappoint ;)

Being an eternal optimist :goodvibes, I know that I will drive myself mad checking each day - so I was kind of hoping I could ring MS and let them tell me my realistic chances based on the current no. of people waiting, but as they can't do this, I think I should perhaps accept now that I won't be in WDW for NYE, rather than keeping that glimmer of hope alive!!:lmao:

Or do you say, I should still go for it??:thumbsup2

:happytv: Coming from another OCD person that checks every day, I still say go for it! :thumbsup2

People cancel and switch all of the time! Good luck :goodvibes

For what it's worth, MS told us that they only allow a certain number of requests to waitlist. So in other words, if the list is too long and statistics show that there's no possible way, they won't even allow you to waitlist.

I guess that means that if you get on the waitlist, you have a shot at it coming through. We just booked a Nov trip and waitlisted for Thanksgiving Day (with a cash ressie as backup). I'm guessing that our odds are slim to none, but without the waitlist they would be none for sure!

Good luck! :goodvibes

thank you both - I think I might give them a ring tomorrow and give it a go - and I will TRY not too check it too much:goodvibes

Many thanks:thumbsup2

I waitlisted any studio in Nov 09 for NYE. The first MS rep was reluctant to set it up, but did so. I went for SSR and Kidani thinking most availability. SSR came through, and MS needed to check with me as I was borrowing points. The second MS person suggested I waitlist for both BWV and BCV saying "why not, it's only one night." BWV came through -- preferred view, and we really enjoyed walking home from fireworks at DHS.

These stories must have brought me some pixie dust! Our Thanksgiving Day waitlist just came through!:cheer2: I'm glad that I didn't bet on that one - I'd be paying up for sure!

Here's sending you some as well! :goodvibes

Congrats Soxyes!!! That is so awesome, I can only imagine how thrilled you are! Enjoy your trip :cool1:

Congratulations that your wait list came through. We have never had any luck with the wait list.

I'm waitlisted for Nov. 24 and 25th. I'm not holding my breath, though. Good luck to everybody out there waiting!

I asked MS once how she thought the waitlist worked (and whether she could see what number I am). She told me that she's worked there over 10 years. This is what she told me (and I don't know if she's right...just what she told me):

10 years ago, they used to be able to tell you generally how far down the waitlist you were since it was written down literally by hand (yea, advanced right)? A night person would go through the WL everynight to find matches. Now they just put it in the system, the computer sends a released room back into inventory, waitlist programming matches (or doesn't). If there are no matches, the room is released back to MS for booking. Because the computer has to try to find a match, sometimes she doesn't see a room she's released until 15-20 minutes later. If there is a match, the waitlist program blocks it off as a match and another department manually reads your WL instructions and reserves the WL night for you.

My MS person seemed pretty competent, so I kinda believed her. I know there's a big debate on the boards on how WL actually works...I liked her answer though--seemed logical.

I did a waitlist the first time about 2 months ago, and had it come through for me! I took a bit of a crazy lady strategy though - besides checking online daily, I called often and asked the CM to check on things for me. Twice, one or two nights of my waitlist popped up individually. So I booked those rooms and remained waitlisted for the rest. Gave me better odds. Sure enough, about 2 weeks after adding in that second night that came up, my whole waitlist came through! Since this was my first waitlist experience, maybe I just got lucky. But you'll never get it unless you try, and what's the harm in trying??? Good luck!!

lilpooh - that's the same description for current waitlists that I got from a very helpful gentleman at MS last month. ;)

We are currently booked for a split stay in October - 2 nights at SSR then 3 nights at AKV Jambo. I have waitlisted my first 2 nights for AKV - Jambo and also for all 5 nights at AKV - Kidani (at the CM's suggestion).

I tend to check every couple of days but I keep telling myself it's a bit like watching a kettle boil - it will never happen if I don't stop watching it!
