Hey everyone! Need some help. DF's best friend and his wife and little girl (who will be 7) are coming at the end of July for our wedding and we are taking them to Disney for 1 day (then we will be off on our honeymoon and they may or may not go another day at Disney). The plan right now is to start at one park, take a mid-day break, then go to MK. I can't figure out which park to take them to first, out of HS, AK, or go all day to MK. I adore AK because I love the atmosphere, and originally wanted to take them there first. Now I am rethinking it because I want this to be so special for their little girl, since I have no idea if she will ever be back to the world. Yes I know it's really hot there, blah blah blah, they are from Texas so they are used to the heat. So where would YOU take a 7 y/o girl for her first time?

I think the 7 year old would really enjoy the 2 shows at AK...Lion King & Nemo...so I voted AK!

MK!

It's classic, it's the park that started it all. It's quintessential Disney!

I think that the 7 year old will be ok and have fun at HS or AK...but when you get to MK, she will want to do so much and you probably won't have the time. I would be safe and just do MK...get there early and ride the kids rides, etc.

Only because you are going with a 7 year old I would say go to MK. At 7 she will have expectations of what Disney world will be like and I think that ht MK is most likley to fill these expectations.
AK might be an anto climax for her although I love it and HS is my favourite park of all.

I also voted for full MK day. As a PP said, it is quintessential Disney and there will be plenty to do to fill a day + more. Too much wasted time to park hop on a 1 day trip (for 1st timers especially) IMHO - I have a friend who did exactly this (with 2 young children) and regretted it. Recommend AK or HS if they can spend some more time at Disney.

I voted for MK because there is so much to do there that it can't usually be done in one day. Rides, shows, character meet n greets, parades, etc. Maybe even use the PH money for a BBB experience, most little girls love that. My granddaughters talk about the BBB all the time and their Fairy Godmothers in Training. 4 PH tickets would be around $200 and she could get the whole experience- dress and all for that. We will be spending 3 1/2 days at MK in July out of 9 days at the parks. The other parks are great but MK IMO is what most people think of when they think of Disney.

Agree that MK is the best choice, especially for a 7 year old. Even as an adult it may not be the park that offers the most thrills but I see it as the most magical and encompasses what Disney is really all about.

I agree with MK, save your money on Park Hopper and take her to BBB in the morning or lunch at CRT.

For me, MK IS Disneyworld. It represents all that WDW is and is the anchor park. If I could only do 1 park, that's the one. Cinderella castle is WDW too. You see the castle and it's instant recognition. It means Disneyworld too.

Thanks everybody! Df and I have ADR's at CRT the night of our wedding, and then the next day is the day we go to the parks with our friends and their little girl. We wanted to do a different park first since we would be in MK the night before. But I just wasn't so sure what to do with a first timer. I guess if anything we will plan on being there all day (with a midday break) and then if they really want to go to another park after the break we can do that, I'll just leave it up to them.

To the PPs with the BBB idea...I guess I should have mentioned that we aren't paying for their tickets, DF has relatives that are CMs and are getting them in for the day. So I guess BBB is irrelevant in that aspect? Although we were initially considering it as a thank you gift, but we are also considering letting her get her hair done at the Harmony Barber Shop. Just not so sure how cranky she would get walking around in a hot princess dress during the hottest, most humid time of year.
