We'll be at the parks on 3/31, doing a total commando day, and I'm thinking a relaxed sit down meal will be warranted. I called and the following are open at the time I'm looking. It'll be for dinner.

Carthay Circle
Storytellers
Steakhouse 55
Blue Bayou

Which would you choose?

Any other ideas? They'll be 5 of us ages 47, 44, 16, 14, and 11. All great eaters, no allergies or pickiness.

We're not fans of Storytellers, but you can't go wrong with the other choices. If your group has never eaten at the Blue Bayou, it's a great atmosphere dining choice!

Thank you. My only hesitation with the BB is not having a table by the water.

You can request a table by the water, but there are no guarantees. My husband and I just ate at BB on 2/24 and it was delicious! We both commented on how great it was and it far exceeded our expectations. While it took awhile for our waiter to initially greet us and take our drinks order, after that he was super quick and filled drinks without us asking for it. And best part was we never felt rushed.

We also LOVE Steakhouse 55, but opted for BB since the prices were about the same but included the sides, where Steakhouse 55 is a la carte for sides. We actually didn't miss having an adult beverage at all, and had mint juleps instead, which was fun! I got the surf and turf and it was super good! And my husband got the Filet. I got the salad which was yummy and he got the gumbo, which he said he could have eaten just that for dinner.

We aren't super adventurous eaters, so Carthay didn't seem to fit "us". We like Storytellers, but there's nothing there that we love. And the ambiance at BB can't be beat. We hadn't eaten at BB since we had kids, so about 6+ years. It was a nice treat. =)

Have fun!

Storytellers, but to be fair, we have not done Carthay or the steakhouse.

We have found that BB is simply not good enough for the price point. We are willing to spend that much on dinner, but not to be disappointed in dinner.

Napa Rose, hands down my family's favorite restaurant at DLR.

I would pick Blue Bayou and arrive 15-30min before reservation and request table near the water.

I've read on here where people will order a few main courses/apps and pass them around family style so everyone can have a little taste of everything and I think that is a neat idea :-)

I would definitely choose Storyteller's, but I would order off the regular menu instead of the buffet. They have a four cheese ravioli that is to die for! The Nebraska corn chowder is good too. BB is nice, but it's something I would personally prefer to do with my boyfriend since it has a bit of a romantic ambiance to it. Just my opinion.

Blue Bayou would be my first choice, but I love Monte Cristos and Beignets, as well as the atmosphere.

Carthay Circle is a great choice if you're a foodie and like 2 hour dinners.

Storytellers seems overpriced for what you get.

I haven't been to Steakhouse 55.

Either Carthay or Steakhouse 55. I may be the odd man out but I strongly dislike the Blue Bayou. Storyteller's is fine, but I like the others better. :)

Do Napa Rose. The price is comparable with Carthay Circle and the service and food are the best, IMHO, of any restaurant at Dland. Really the food is stellar. The Napa Rose atmosphere is relaxing and convivial and brings me right back around from the edge of resenting my fellow theme park attendees (after a long day in the parks) to loving life again.

My DH and I love Storytellers for dinner. They have the best mashed potatoes!

I agree with previous posters who recommended Napa Rose. In my opinion, it is the best restaurant in the Resort. However, out of the 4 you mentioned, I would go for Carthay Circle. BB is overpriced for what you get, (and if you get a poor server or poor table it can really mar the experience) Storytellers is ok for an arrival day, but not the most memorable and Steakhouse 55 is a steakhouse - nothing you can't get elsewhere.

Well frankly If you've got one day I'd think Steakhouse 55 is out, because its a ways from the parks. Storytellers and Napa Rose (even though GC is close, are still a bit away). I'd actually try to figure out which side you'd be in and select the restaurant that's there. Since you've got one day, I'd personally spend it in disneyland which leaves you with Blue Bayou. As been said above, try to get there a bit early to get a waterside table. No beer and wine at BB, is that a dealbreaker?

Wow everyone, thank you for the responses. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

No wine with dinner might be a deal breaker for DH especially with such a long park day...

I'm the only one in our party that's been to the BB and that was years ago. If I recall the company wasn't the best so a BB re-do is in order.

I don't know what park we'll be in around that time but I'm thinking Disneyland as we'll have spent all morning in DCA. DS and myself prefer Disneyland. DH prefers DCA, and the girls like both the same. Hmm.....

I checked out the Napa Rose menu and it looks fabulous. A friend has a few reports on both Steakhouse 55 and Carthay and both of those also look great too.

We've been to Storyteller's for breakfast but not for dinner. Our service was excellent and I'm all about good service but again, we've all been there.

I'm still totally undecided. :upsidedow

I was going to say try BB since most of your family has never tried it and the atmosphere is great... and it's in DL. But with the wine thing, it sounds like you'd be happier leaving the park. I think Steakhouse 55 is far if it's your "commando" park day unless you are done in the parks. And Carthay and Storytells (and Napa Rose) are about the same distance for me (since you could have a hold up at the DCA turnstiles while they sort out all their issues with the photos), so I'd choose between them. Hope this helps a bit. ;)
