OK guys, I need some suggestions. It's really late notice and now I'm having brain freeze.

If you could go anywhere in the continental US (you guessed it - frequent flyer miles :teeth: ) for a few days around Christmas time, where would it be? I realize a lot of flights are going to be booked already, but we're going to be pretty flexible. Just looking for a few days away from work, etc.

And that's about all I have to go on. We don't really have any preferences for where we go or what we do. Just looking for something kind of relaxing. Any suggestions on great accomadations are also appreciated :)

Thanks!
Julie

Since you are on the East Coast, why not do a West Coast Christmas? You could do the California thing, or maybe the Northwest. Heck, you could even do South Beach! Guaranteed to not be like any Christmas you've had before. Or you could go the Jimmy Buffett way and head to Key West. The options are limitless.

I'd go to (surprise, surprise) WDW! I've never seen it during the holidays and would love to see the decorations.

Other than WDW I would go to New Hampshire or somewhere in New England or maybe Colorado.

not that i would but...how about going skiing? you could fly out for a few days. anywhere there are mountains there is skiing.

Hmmmmm??? Good question!!! Actually I like to stay home for the Holidays.

Where you would like to go best would be entirely your personal preference! You are in Virginia, right... the mountains? Do the mountains in Winter hold any appeal... there are probably some Spectactlar Ski lodges out west... Chalet, roaring fire, hot tub, etc.... What is the weather in the SOUTH west.... more Spectacular accomodations places like Scottsdale Arizona... Now that would be different, and relaxing! HUGE change in scenery!

If you are looking for warm weather, how about Santa Barbara or Miami beach...

You mention 'relaxing' so I will rule out places like New York City, Las Vegas, etc... Would you be able to fly home after ringing-in-the-New-Year at some exciting destination?

All up to what you are looking for!!!

All good ideas!

My husband would go for the skiing... but unless there's a lodge with a fire and a lot of hot chocolate, I wouldn't :smooth:

I'm not sure we'd want to do Disney this time around. Unless we could get a really good deal on the cruise! Which isn't going to happen.... *sigh*

I guess the problem is that there are too many choices and it's all up to me. My husband isn't exactly a planner... and getting him to even comment on something, much less commit to it is a challenge. Which wouldn't even bother me so much except he's the one pushing to go away! So he knows he wants to go somewhere, but wants me to plan it all!

Maybe I'll print this out and pin him down to something tonight. :)

Thanks guys!

Julie

I'd go somewhere warm, preferably Southern California. :)

I wouldn't want to be any place but home at Christmastime :)

Next to WDW, I've always wanted to go to Yellowstone or Lake Tahoe in the winter. (Of course, I'm from Hawaii and would love to see snow, you probably would rather go somewhere warm!)

LuvTigger,

We actually considered Hawaii since my sister is in Honolulu. But I'll probably be going in March, so going now seems silly.

I've actually looked into Key West. Also looked into Discovery Cove in Orlando.

The more I try to think about it, the less relaxing it all seems since DH won't plan...and it's mostly his idea to begin with.

I may just end up taking some advice from here and stay home for the holidays. I'm lucky enough to live within a few miles of most of my family (except for the one sister), so I see them year 'round. But holidays with family is always nice too :)

I would go to Naples, Florida. My DH isn't a good planner either, he leaves that all to me and that's just Fine!:)
