Ok so which would you choose for a holiday in February? Both destinations would be all inclusive and a similar price.

Claire ;)

Ive voted for the Maldives, the people I sit next to at the footie go every year and always say how lovely it is :thumbsup2

St Lucia, I have never fancied the Maldives, looks boring.

I voted the Maldives. Went there on honeymoon 10 years ago.:goodvibes

Hiya Claire.

I have experience of both, and imo they are so very different.

I think a lot would depend on who is travelling and what you are looking for in this holiday.

Maldives is very idyllic, you do nothing all day except snorkel, watersports, eat, drink and swim. Truely beautiful but I kinda got itchy feet after 4 days, I didnt actually want to go anywhere but felt restricted because I couldnt, if that makes sense.

St Lucia, having spent time travelling a number of the carribean islands, is one of my favourites. You can still explore the island fairly safely, unlike Jamaica etc if you fancy seeing a bit of the culture and theres plenty to see :thumbsup2

We hopped on board the actual ship they use in the Pirates of Carribean films, which the kids thought was amazing stepping in the same footstep as "the real" Jack Sparrow.;)

The biggest tip I could give you though is to get air transport which ever destination you choose. Be it airboat in the Maldives or a helicopter in St Lucia. Both will be sat waiting for you as you land, and your luggage will follow by road transfer or boat depending on destination. In St Lucia, all the accomodations are at the opposite end of the island and the road transfers take forever, and believe me you feel every pot hole there is and theres plenty.

Feel free to ask any questions:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies so far it is interesting to read the different views :)

Claire ;)

Although I would love to go to both....I've voted St Lucia - as there are more things to do on the island, and there is a bit of culture.

Are you a keen diver? When we have looked at going to the Maldives we have always looked at where the best diving spots are?:)

I voted Maldives as I have always wanted to go there, St Lucia hs never really appealed :goodvibes

Much as I love the Caribbean (south coast of Barbados is absolute heaven IMO), I voted for the Maldives as I read somewhere that parts are sinking and might not even be there in 20 years time... And it's good to see these places at least once... :thumbsup2

hard choice!!
I think I would vote Maldives been briefly to both and granted there is a lot more to do on St. Lucia I think Maldives is a lovely pampering holiday one where you can totally unwind :)

I have voted Maldives as I would love 2 weeks of nothing on an idyllic beach!!

Having been to both, the Maldives wins hands down. St lucia is a volcanic island so has dark golden sand and not the lovely white sand of the Maldives and the snorkelling is streets ahead in the Maldives too - second only to the Great Barrier Reef.
