When John Kerry came home from Viet Nam due to a Navy loop hole, (receiving three purple hearts) he was assigned to the Naval Ready Reserves in Maryland. As such, he was required to attend monthly meetings for two years. No records have yet been released to confirm his attendance in those monthly meetings and the seventeen days of annual training per year. Where was he? We know that he was testifying against his fellow soldiers on Capital Hill but did he attend the meetings?

I don't know!

Hmmm. Let's see, let's think back in time. Kerry and the V V A W were hated by Nixon and his cronies. The man, Kerry, shows up to testify before Congress, apparently not hiding from anybody. Oh, and he is very much under a watchful over the next couple of years. I wonder ... could "the military", who hated him so ... have picked him up at anytime if he was AWOL? Hmmm. Seems to me if John Kerry or any member of the V V A W was AWOL or even so much as spit on the sidewalk, they would have been hauled off to a jail cell somewhere, with great pleasure. ::yes::

Isn't this the same guy who questioned whether President Bush attended National Guard meetings? Shouldn't we be entitled to know if he attended the required Ready Reserve meetings as well? Obviously, the military doesn't send the MP's out to force absentees into the meetings but, if he were there, where are the records? And whats with the HMMMMMMM's. Usually people introject those when they are trying to collect their thoughts. That shouldn't be a problem if you are typing.

Personally, I'm ready for both men to just jump off the earth. I hate election years.

My understanding is he was single-handedly causing us to lose the Vietnam war; marrying rich women; bugging the Democrat Headquarters in the Watergate Hotel; smoking opiunm with Tim Leary; stealing cars with Neal Cassidy; and ripping tags off matresses with Osama Bin Laden. .

But then, I get all my news from faux-conserative talk show radio shows. . .

;)

So.....

If the right gets their news from the right wing media outlets (of which there are few) and the left gets theirs from the left wing media outlets (of which there are many), where does one get the truth?

Do we take all of the words from both sides, mix them up, then dump them on the floor to see what it spells out?

Well it appears that at least he attended this meeting.

Elwood,

No, you look at everything, have an understanding of history, use common sense, and come to the most rational conclusion possible.

Of course, if you really think there are few Right-wing media outlets that might be a bit beyond you. .

;)

Sarge,

Got a date on that photo?

Good to see you're on top of things SB........I think Dawn's post was very special...in fact one of the most special posts I've ever read....;)

Why doesn't Kerry run on his nearly 20 years in the U. S. Senate? My father was in the battle of the bulge in WW II and ended up in a hospital in England. He wouldn't talk about his war experiences much at all. I think someone that bases his candidacy, almost totally on his war experiences, is missing something. I know several people that were in Vietnam and didn't reinact their experiences on 8 mm film. They also don't talk about their experiences often. Just my humble opinion.

I will quote Bob Dole on this one; "His senate record is thin, and his Viet Nam record is confused", Also, "Americans love heros, quiet ones".

Is that the same Bob Dole who Bill Clinton wiped the floor with in the 1996 election?

My Dad served in Korea and never talked about his experiences there. It wasn't until I was an older and watching M.A.S.H. and he made me turn it off that I finally heard about his experiences...(other then getting sweet potatoe pie at Thangsgiving instead of pumpkin like they were told they were getting) He received medals that we never knew about until after he died, because he never claimed them. My Mom got them for us just a few yrs ago to have.

I wish all this talk about who is more qualified to run the country based on who fought in a war and who didn't was over with...let's focus on the issues of today...not what happened, or

And this is a critical issue to the election because... ???

Oh, I know! Because it's yet another opportunity to bash a political opponent in an attempt to score points in some imaginary mind game of political tit for tat.

It's not like this is going to actually change anyone's mind about who they will vote for on Nov. 2nd or that it would help anyone (heaven help them) who is still undecided.

In the final analysis, all this does is deepen the partisan chasm just a little more and ensure that the electorate remains polarized.
