My husband and I are going to WDW February 2008 for our honeymoon. Any suggestions on where we should stay. A friend recommended to Carribean Beach Resort. Is there a big difference between the Value resorts and the Moderate???? I have not been to Disney since I was 6 so I need all the help I can get.:confused3

There are some differences. Here is a link to a site with some great info and pictures allearsnet.com

This question gets asked quite a bit. I believe there is a significant difference between Moderate and Value resorts. I also believe it is worth the extra money. Especially for your honeymoon. Moderate rooms include a refrigerator. The pool areas and overall landscape are a lot nicer. Caribbean Beach is the oldest of the Moderate resorts and I haven't stayed there in over ten years, but we loved it.

Other moderate resorts that can be romantic are Port orleans Riverside

And Coronado Springs.

I think there's a pretty big difference, especially when you're thinking romance. My wife & I stayed at Coronado Springs on our first "no kids" trip. The resort is beautiful & seemed perfect for a romantic visit, without breaking the bank.

You didn't mention whether you're interested in the deluxe resorts. I think any of them would fit the bill for a nice honeymoon. Of course, you pay more for the deluxes.

Have you looked here? This site will help you compare the different levels & offerings. There's several photos for each resort too.

You need to go Deluxe, Moderate, or off property. Off property has deals like 3 br condos for 100 bucks a night. On property you should rent points from a disney vacation club member, asap, and stay at animal kingdom villas, wilderness lodge or beach club/yacht club. that is your BEST value.

Hi newlykehoe! I would select the moderate resort for your honeymoon trip if you don't mind the extra expense. Moderate resorts offer:

slightly larger rooms
nicely themed pools with a water slide as well as a "quiet pool"
table service restaurant in the resort (except for maybe Port Orleans-I don't think they have a table service restaurant)
and, as others have mentioned mini fridge in the room
i think the moderates also offer a coffeemaker in the room

both value and moderate resorts open to exterior corridors

Personally, I think the Value resorts have cute theming, but the Moderate resorts seem to be a bit more reserved and elaborate in their theming. Well, the value resorts are elaborately themed. I guess what I mean to say is that the Moderate resorts seem a bit less motel and more hotel. I don't know how to explain what I mean...I hope that makes sense. The Moderates do feel a bit more romantic to me.

As far as the Carribean Beach resort goes, it seems very nice. There are hammocks on the beach, the decor is bright and airy. The carribean beach rooms are a bit larger than the other moderates. I think it would be a nice selection. :thumbsup2

Congratulations by the way!!! :)

I agree...Off property or renting DVC points is also a great idea. You can often get a nicer room ON Disney property if you rent DVC points. DH and I toured the Animal Kingdon Villas while we were at Disney a few weeks ago and they were SPECTACULAR! We are actually considering a purchase. The one bedrooms had jacuzzi tubs, flat screen TVs, a nice kitchen....they were just gorgeous. Just make sure that you read the Dis suggestions for renting safely from a reputable buyer. You wouldn't want any surprises on your honeymoon. Check references and see if they've rented to other satisfied Disers and that sort of thing....good luck!

I spent my honeymmon at WDW (it was wonderful) and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. We did a little resort hopping on our last day and I have to say for the price we were ecstatic with Riverside. We thought it was very romantic and had a very laid back feel. Since it is your honeymoon I would eliminate the value resorts and go with the moderate. I have also stayed at Caribbean Beach, and by far I was still glad I picked Riverside for our honeymoon. Good luck and have fun!!!!!

Although any WDW resort can be romantic, I personally have to vote for at least a moderate! We have also rented points before and that worked great, worth looking into. Since you'll be spending a little more time in the room ;), it would be worth it.

We spent our honeymoon 10 yrs ago at POFQ. It was great!:thumbsup2

Good luck! Have a great time!

Here's my two cents. Definitely price out the moderate, then price the WL and AKL. I think that you'll see that they often run specials for these two deluxe resorts and while I am a big fan of the WL, the AKL is also beautiful. Next check out the DVC rent/trade board right here at the Dis - you can stay in a deluxe studio for the week for as little at $1000 if you rent for about $10 per point. Bang for your buck - I don't think you can beat renting from a DVC owner as these are all deluxe resort studios that end up costing less than a hotel room in a moderate. The studios will have a microwave, toaster, minfrig and a coffee pot. You can rent at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Old Key West, and Saratoga Springs. Considering that this is your honeymoon - I would go for the deluxe rental at the moderate resort price. Good Luck.

My daughter and husband stayed at Pop Century for a few nights and then one night at the GF for part of their honeymoon. She said if they ever go back tho, she would stay at the Port Orleans, I booked them a carriage ride and dinner at Port Orleans Riverside and they loved it!!! She said the GF was over priced and too stuffy:) Enjoy your time as it will be the only first honeymoon for you:) Blessings and congrats on your wedding
