Where to request to stay at the Polynesian?

We bit the bullet and decided to stay at the Polynesian next week. Now, I could really use some help deciding what Longhouse to request. We are booked for a standard garden view room. We have two boys, (ages 5, and 2) and would love to have one of the largest rooms available in our range, and would love to have a balcony. Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

Tokelau, Tahit, or Rapi Nui! :) Tokelau is the most central located of the three. :) All 3 are nice buildings, though.

:)

Tokelau is the favorite out of the three. Tahiti is the best for lagoon view rooms and Rapanui is one you may want to stay away from because you could end up facing the parkinglot. They all have the larger rooms but only Tahiti has the double sinks in all the bathrooms.

We are going in July and I found a thread on here talking about the Fiji building being a well kept secret so we are going to try that one out. They said either side you are on you have a water view but are paying for a garden view. You either face the marina or the lagoon. You have to request a bottom floor or a third floor to get a balcony. Also they said it is close to the Great Ceremonial House and close to snack bar. Hope no matter where you stay have a great time~

Pluto,

Do you know if the rooms in Fiji are the same size as Tokelau? I know some rooms are just a bit smaller. Boy I wish Tikiman's site us up!

Fiji is one of the original buildings, so it's rooms are smaller than Tahiti, Tokelau, and Rapi Nui's. But, they are the same size as Tuvalu, Hawaii, Raratonga, Nuie, and Aoretorea (sp?) 's rooms.

I really like Fiji, and it would be my choice for a standard garden view (Tahiti is a second). I think Fiji's location and views are better than getting the larger room (I was told by the concierge that the difference is 381 to 409).

I stayed in Hawaii (concierge), and had the lagoon view. The Polynesian's Lagoon views are pretty awesome (however, I still prefer the CR and GF's).

Have fun!!!

Maybe you should ask for a room in the vicinity of room #'s 3911,3912,3914 or 3915. They are a good location and you may get a sort of lagoon view room. We like to be on the top floor but if you would like lower the first # denotes the floor you are on. Tokelau is my fav longhouse. Have a great trip.

Thanks DisneyDenise for the information! I have a map of the Poly, and the rooms you discussed, 3911, 3912, 3914, 3915, are they on the end toward Magic Kingdom, or toward parking lot? We also prefer a room on 2nd or 3rd floor,!

Try the Tokelau longhouse. It's very nice and secluded. The rooms are nice and big and will fit 2 children. Yes, it had a balcony and we could actually see Cindarella's Castle through the trees!

The rooms I have stated are close to the lagoon. You can see the lagoon and even the castle from the balcony but it is thru the trees. Have a good trip. I wish we were planning a Poly visit but we are taking our first child to college in August and I am just to nevous about $$$ this summer to take a trip. I am sure we will be fine but my DS is fencing nationally now and the trips are all to the west coast for his next season. I need a money tree.

Thanks for the response. Good Luck with your future college experiences, and your son's fencing competitions. I am sure i have those tough decisions to look forward too!

To californiadreaming or anyone who has stayed concierge:

We are going to the poly in three weeks, for the longest time I had a gardenview room booked , then at the last minute I called back and changed to concierge gardenview.

I keep thinking should I have stayed with room only but I like the idea of snacks all day, there are four of us.

Can anyone tell me if they enjoyed the concierge, the breakfast, snacks etc. I will not be using it for priority seatings. Is it worth the extra money when only used for meal items?
When I read about the great views at tokelau etc, I keep thinking I should switch back, or do a split, between room only, and concierge. Help?

Concierge is nice, and I think you'll be glad you switched. Make sure you request a room near the end of Hawaii (around #1519,2519,3519) for the best view (quiet pool & the courtyard). The building really isn't too big, so you aren't far away from the lounge. The concierge is great for snacks. You can get a nice continental breakfast in the morning, in the afternoon they had candy and cookies, at 5PM they brought out little appetizers (I could see that you could make a meal out of it if you really wanted to), and at 8PM they brought desserts out. It was really a nice set-up. :)

Thanks californiadreaming, what is the view from the other end of the gardenview concierge rooms, is it also the quiet pool?

I am emailing them tomorrow with my request, in a polite way for sure.

Well, rooms ending in 32,33,&34 look at the Samoa longhouse. The rooms near them have some trees and look over the pool bar. I'd probably take any room ending anywhere near 19-25. All Garden View rooms (with the exception of some on the 1st floor) would probably have a view of the pool. :)

Belle2000,

Just a quick note. Rooms 3914 (3rd floor) and 2914 (2nd floor) are lagoon view rooms and you will have to pay a lagoonview price to get them.

Aloha

Steve

Hey Cali. Only room 1534 in Hawaii looks at the corner of Samoa. The rest look at the pool. I just checked the video this morning. Just FYI.
