:wave2: I need to rent an ECV while in WDW and would like some suggestions where to rent one. I have a handicap parking ticket from my MD - I have severe arthritis in one knee and am a person of size. Does anyone know if they make portable scooters/ECVs for people of size? (I DO NOT like to use the bus transportation system) I would appreciate any help anyone can give me - thank you.

I cannot recall the medical store my DH rented an ECV, but if you call Disney or the resort that you are staying at, they will recommend one for you. My DH is not pooh size, but it was quite ample. The cost was like $100-140 for the week. (That's an excellent price compared to WDW rental of $40/park hours).

My DH was in severe pain (back - disk) and needed an EVC for one of our trips. Two days after our WDW trip, he had back surgery.

Good luck to you....

Hi Deb,

Hope you don't mind a question about Scootarama! I have been looking at several of the rental companies and see some leave the ECV at Bell Services and some require you be there for drop off. Can you comment on what Scootarama does? Thanks so much for your help!

Dave

I would suggest going to the "disABILTIES! FAQ" which is the 4th item down in disABILTIES!. One of the sections discusses the differences between on and off property rentals and gives sevaral suggestions. I know that some of the off-site companies, such as Walker's, will rent ECVs with a 450 pound capacity.

If you are going between 9/05 and 9/28 and can book it before 9/01, you can save 10% off the rental at Walker Mobility and they are offering a similar deal in January 2007 too. We rented from them because it came out cheaper than the other companies.

We have used Randy's Mobility in the past with good results also. Maggie

Dave,
Scootarama does drop off at bell service and when you are ready to leave, You return the scooter to Bell service for them to pick it up, Makes it very easy.:cheer2:
