Where to Print Memorial Program?

My husband's grandmother passed away earlier this week and I am in charge of creating a program for her memorial service tomorrow (Saturday). Unfortunately, with this type of thing, everything has to be done so quickly and unexpectedly so as a huge planner I am a bit lost on what to do.

I have Microsoft Publisher and originally planned to make up a program using that and then printing them at Kinko's. Then, I wondered if there was an option to do a same-day print like with photo cards, etc somewhere that might be made out of cardstock (doesn't have to fold like a greeting card). I am not really finding much info anywhere, though.

I would really like to make a nice program for her, and would be really happy if I could even do color...but I'm not sure if it's in our budget. I don't even know what our budget is for this because I have no idea how much it costs even to do a simple black/white program at Kinkos. I probably need about 50-75 programs maybe.

My in-laws have a nice photo printer but they say it is an ink hog and would be cheaper and easier to print it somewhere else and pay. Our printer is poor quality.

I would really appreciate any tips or suggestions. My husband and I are so busy with taking care of a lot of these things without much help from other family so I need to get started on it ASAP! Thank you so much! :worship:

Try Staples. Color copies cost something like 49c each, and you can do it yourself or have them do it for you. I know they offer various paper options, but I don't know how much they charge for that. Black and white is a lot cheaper (I think they charge like 7 or 8 cents per copy).

Is there a funeral home handling the service? When my Dad died, the funeral home took care of printing the programs for us with pictures and information that we provided.

I did one for a friend not long ago. We had it printed at Staples. We did one side in color and one in black and white, so that cut down the cost quite a bit.

As a graphic designer, I agree whole heartedly with PP's statement. make the outside cover color, so it has nice presentation quality, and make all pages inside black and white. Put the pictures on the front and back cover. Then, when folded, it'll look very nice.

I also agree with the Staples or Office Max's Copy Max. It may also serve you well to call a local print shop (like Mr Print or somewhere you would get business letterhead or business cards made) and they might even be able to lay them out for you?

Many people here are printing more detailed programs and having longer, very detailed obituaries in them, as the newspapers are charging so much for obituaries now.

Sorry for your loss, but I hope that the advice is a little bit of help to you.

Thank you for your help. We are going to stick with black & white but will use cream cardstock (at the request of my mother-in-law).

Thank you!

You can buy colored memorial card stock stores that sell to churches that are made for funerals. You can also ask if the place you are holding the service has them in stock.
Sorry for your loss.
