I'll be heading to WDW in a month with my Mom and sister. Mom uses oxygen on an as needed basis. I don't think we can bring her portable tank on the plane.
Has anyone here gotten a portable oxygen tank from a medical supply place near Disney? Or can someone recommend a med. supply place that I can call. Her Doc will give us a script.

Thanks!
Terri

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

She should contact her current Oxygen supplier. Be sure to tell them exact dates and where she will be staying. They will be able to contact a supplier down here and provide them with all the technical and insurance information.

Basically while you are down here you will deal with that company just as you deal with the regular supplier at home. This is very routine for them.

Also, if you go to the disABILITIES FAQs thread, in post #3, you will find a few links to past threads about oxygen and travel.

We have used Apria in Orlando. They are our supplier at home. Definitely call the home supplier and they should be able to help make arrangements.

You might want to have your mom check with her doctor to see if a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) would work for her. My FIL uses one when he travels, as they can be used on planes. We have taken it on several major airlines, although United does NOT allow them. The one caveat I will offer is that they are a little heavy and you have to drag it behind you like a rolling backpack. But you avoid having to deal with tanks. They won't work for everyone, but you may want to ask about it.
