OK my DH is a huge guinness man! Its the only beer he will touch ...and really the only adult drink he will take.

I know Rose and Crown sells it but we have never found anywhere else? anyone ever find guinness (bottled or on tap) anywhere else besides Rose and Crown? :hippie:

DH says that's the only place he knows of (Fish N Chips CS, Rose & Crown, and Rose & Crown outdoor bar) - he's a fan of that inky molasses as well. Makes me feel like

However, we have not been to every bar, every lounge, every resort in WDW, so it might be somewhere ...

(edited) Hmmm ... Raglan Road - that totally makes sense.

DH likes the black and tan at rose and crown....
I'm with you ~ it looks like sewer water :lmao:
I was hoping some of the other dining places might at least have it in the bottle. I am not a fan of rose and crown and if I can find some place better that serves it ~ well then I can cancel our R&C ADR and eat some place better LOL

You could always cancel the ADR and just stop by the R&C bar for a drink sometime or grab lunch at the CS some day. Might be a good compromise!

Trust me... it's good! I've had floats made with beer a few times and they were delicious! :thumbsup2

If you can get an ADR for Le Cellier, just tell him to get a bottle of Maudite. If he likes Guinness, the Maudite should blow his mind. It's not a stout, but it's a very strong dark Belgian ale. Not really as thin as Guinness, but much stronger and more textured. It should be a real treat if he's never had a good Belgian beer.

We DO have ADRs for Le Cellier!!! I am so writing this down for him!!! THANKS!
He is an all American guy but he likes his dark beers and can't stand Bud, coors any other American beer. :cool1:
This will keep from complaining about the beer the whole week!

If he likes dark beers, they also have Spaten Optimator on tap outside at the Germany Pavilion in Epcot, as well as the Biergarten. Optimator is a darker german Double Bock. There's a 'Disney Beer research' thread over in the Adults/Solos forum that may be worth checking out. People have compiled a decent list of the various beers, locations, and rare finds around the world.

I noticed your location is listed as NOLA. If your DH hasn't checked out Dixie's Blackened Voodoo, he really should. It's brewed in New Orleans, and it's a very dark lager ... they call it 'blackened' for a reason

Oh he likes Voodoo *ok* but his fav place WAS O'Flaherty's down in the quarter. Katrina took that away =(

I am NOT a beer expert (he is ...but he never reads the DIS) so I will swing on over to the beer thread and take notes for him. In his words "If I have to ride a dang blasted flying elephant I deserve good beer on vacation" :lmao:

Brocktoon~ Thanks for pointing me to that thread!

I found your post over there and copied and pasted the whole thing to DH's email :lmao:

He will be a happy man. Beer snob? that is him to a tee!!!!

I know he tried an African beer at Jiko's he liked but I can't remember the name.

He likes the black and tans at the Rose and Crown as well.

His current fav is the guinness extra stout ewww I don't know how he drinks that but he loves it!

He tried a couple of beers over in the Germany stand but none that really stood out to him as *good*.

Brook - DH loved, loved, loved the beer at Le Cellier and has purchased it (or some American version of it?) at home - it's La Fin du Monde I think by Unibroue.

And I just wanted to say - on my one and only trip to NO (1994) - my husband and I spent about 4 of our 5 nights at O'Flaherty's - it was the highlight of our trip, it was before we had really discovered the joys of Irish pubs - I didn't know it was gone from Katrina. That is so sad. Tell your DH I feel for him.

Yup it took on a lot of damage during Katrina. Danny O'Flaherty is a friend of my DH's.... the owner/singer.
With the business not so hot in New Orleans, he never rebuilt.
It was the BEST place to go in the Quarter!!!!! OMG was it fun! Not the college crowd drunks ...no sir ... these were classy drunk here :thumbsup2
I used to love going to sit out in the courtyard!
I have no idea why Pat Obrien's is more popular as O'Flaherty's was so much better. A real class act of an irish pub :thumbsup2
