I need some cash when visiting, where would you recommend getting cash from? Are there any ATM's / cash points with no fee or should I order some to bring with me?

Order some from your bank to bring with you. Try to get €20 notes if you can, as some places may not accept €50 for small purchases as they might not have change.

While there are ATMS in Disneyland Paris, you will always get the best exchange rate at your local bank. And you wont put yourself at risk of your card details being compromised.

Depending on how long I’m going, I order $100 worth of Euros for every two weeks I’m there from my bank. Tends to cover initial purchases ( public transport cards, museum entrances, etc) and small buys like snacks or newspapers.

You may be able to use ATMs depending on your card network, etc. but expect fees to be high. Also, there are exchanges at the airport, but, again, there will be fees. I agree with others that it is best to order currency through your bank before you leave. They should be able to do that for you. I also recommend getting a credit card with no foreign transaction fees (like a Capital One Venture or other travel card), and then you don't have to worry about having so much cash on hand (though it's alwyas good to have some just in case).

Take a reasonable amount of money from an ATM at your home airport, then take it to the currency exchanges in CDG or ORY.

We specifically opened a bank account with Schwab as our travel account because there are no ATM fees and they reimburse fees automatically. So we just find an ATM and get Euros as needed.

“Charles Schwab offers unlimited ATM fee rebates worldwide for their Investor Checking account holders using the Schwab Bank Visa Platinum Debit Card. Fees charged by other ATM operators are automatically reimbursed at the end of each monthly statement cycle. No minimum balance or monthly fees are required for this benefit.“

Following along. My credit cards have no transaction fees. Other than tipping, what types of things are cash only? Disneyland Paris can be 100% credit card, is that correct? DLP does not accept Disney GC. Is that correct?

My husband and I opened a separate account at our bank as our “travel” fund with an ATM card that is not linked to our other accounts. We get Euros (or other currency for our destinations) from our bank in advance, then use the ATM if we want more cash.

I don’t think we used any cash at Disneyland Paris except for tips. DLP is not fully owned by Disney, so their stores wouldn’t take Disney gift cards.

Always have cash, as if there are internet issues in Disneyland Paris, they wont accept cards, as all the payment terminals are internet based. This has caused issues in the past as the ATMS ran out of cash.

Correct Disneyland Paris does not accept American Disney Gift cards as they are in US Dollars and Disneyland Paris is in France and Euros are used in France.

That is not correct. The Walt Disney Company have full control of and fully own Disneyland Paris since the buy out in 2017.

The reason Disneyland Paris does not accept American Disney Gift Cards is because they are in US Dollars and Disneyland Paris is in France, where the currency is Euros. US Dollars are not legal currency in France.

Thanks. I was asking more to figure out how much cash to bring.

Thats how long is a piece of string question. How long are you in Disneyland Paris? What are your plans outside of the parks, are you planning days in Paris or other countries in the Euro zone? What is your budget overall? You need to decide how much you will be spending overall and then have a % of that cash.

Many public toilets in France and other countries require payment, and will only take coins.

Some shops may not accept international cards as they loose money with foreign transaction fees or your cards may not be accepted by the payment terminals if they are not pin and chip.

Thanks for the correction. I was confusing DLP with another non-US park.

Right. I wasn't looking for an exact dollar value or a worst case scenario calculation. I was asking which things are cash only.

I don't want to derail OP's question with my personal travel plans. To keep this on topic, assume I'm asking about France as a whole. Tips, public toilets, small bakeries.... what else might be cash only?

I travel to Europe from the US at least once a year. I have looked into my local banks and their exchange rates are terrible to try getting Euros before I leave and it takes more than a week. My debit card from my credit union only charges $0.25 per transaction in Europe. Check with your local bank/CU. I use that card at bank ATMs (those inside or immediately on the outside of the bank) in the major European cities. Fees are generally €2.50-5.00 and the exchange rate is very close to what you will see on Google. DON'T use the exchanges at the airport or commercial ATMs (not associated with a bank) you will see on the sidewalks. Fees are high and exchange rates are terrible.

My CC also doesn't have international fees and I use it for 99% of purchases, but I generally keep €100-200 for tips and little things.
