Anyone have advice on getting discounted gift cards for WDW? We bought all the ones our Sams Club had at Christmas, and now I am trying to find a way to save a bit of money on gift cards. I looked on Ebay, but not sure if I trust those people or not. Any place online I should be looking?

To my knowledge you can maybe find them at Sam's or Costco. I would not trust Ebay at all. Although you won't get a dicount, see if a school or charity in your area sells gift cards, you buy from them and they get 3-5% of the sale as a donation from the selling company.

Target if you use your Red Card which can either be set up as a credit or a decoupled debit (linked to your checking) - then it is 5% off each GC.

Target sells $25 & $50 cards. You get 5% off if you have a target credit or debit card. Most grocery stores sell them as well, and if they do gas rewards you get your discount that way.

Try Cardpool.com or Plasticjungle.com. The amount of discount varies from card to card, some good, some not so much (I haven't been looking for Disney cards).

I have ordered cards from cardpool several times lately and they are very quick.

I would be very careful buying GCs from an outside party. I don't mean places like Target or grocery stores. There was a woman not long ago who bough a lot of GCs from plastic jungle then found out they were only good at the Disney Store. The wording on plasticungle.om was very confusing and misleading. Stick to places like Target and Sam's Club.

Are you sure? Have you actually gotten a 5% reward on a gift card purchase? Most of the time, gift cards are excluded from discount programs. Here is what it says on the Target website -- note that it says the discount does not apply to "prepaid cards":

"5% discount does not apply to the following:
Prescriptions, Target Clinic® services and Target Optical® eye exams
Target gift cards and prepaid cards
Previous purchases
Target credit account payments, Target Debit Card cash back and cash advances on the Target Visa Credit Card
Target Commercial Interiors® purchases
Gift wrap and shipping and handling charges on Target.com purchases
Where otherwise prohibited by law"

I don't know for sure that "prepaid cards" means gift cards but I'd be wary that you'll really get that 5% discount.

I have. :thumbsup2 I have also combined the Target Red Card discount with my 5% savings pass from filling five prescriptions and gotten 10% off gift cards.

You don't get anything off Target gift cards, but I know it works for Disney, iTunes, Chick-fil-a and Olive Garden - I think those are the only ones I have tried. It should work on any of the "entertainment" cards near electronics - restaurants, Disney, iTunes, etc.

I have bought about $3000 in Disney gift cards from Target and received the 5% discount using my debit card. I did not buy these all at once FYI. The most I purchased at one time was $1000.

the wording for the gift cards at Target is a lil confusing, but they literally mean TARGET gift cards. Such as the ones you give as a b-day gift to target itself.

on another note, Target classifies the Disney cards, as "Entertainment" cards,

I just bought a few giftcards from Target this weekend to "try" it out. I got Starbucks and Disney. They both rang up as "entertainment" card on the recipt and got 5% off.

And if you join Target's prescription rewards and get 5 prescriptions filled there, they mail you a coupon for an extra 5% off. So, you can you both the red card and the prescription rewards for extra savings.

We just purhcased $1600 in Disney gift cards at Target this weekend using our Target red card and 5% off prescription reward day so we got a total of 10% off.

I didn't even know that Target had a debit card. So do you just link it to a checking account?

Yup, all you need is a blank check and it works just like a Debit card. It takes a day or two to hit your account, but it works.

Thank you. I will have to dig through my junk drawers to find a check then. What does the application process consist of? Can you get declined for the debit card?
