Where to eat in AK & DS?

It's me, dh, dd8 & ds4.
Suggestions for TS OR CS but I imagine we won't be able to get a TS at this late date. We'll be there the 15th -19th.

Or maybe somewhere nearby outside each park?

We love Flame Tree BBQ CS, although it's not as great as it used to be (but what at Disney really is) we love the seating area overlooking the lake and EE across the way. It's great for the kids because they offer something different from chicken nuggets and burgers.

try for sci-fi or 50's prime time at DS, ya never know if its open until you try! those are both fun for kids. fo AK flame tree or pizzafari for CS, depending what you're in the mood for..and flame tree only has outdoor seating I believe.

Yak & Yeti at AK is great and portions are large so that an adult and child could easily share. I haven't eaten at any good CS at DHS but as the last poster stated try Sci Fi. Twice we made reservations the day of our visit. Once we walked in at 3:30 and got seated right away. My kids love it there. Was not impresssed with 50s.

You may be suprised with getting a ressie. I would at least call if you are intrested. With regards to the resturants.

50's cafe is our fav at MGM but this may be tough to get a ressie at now.

Starring Rolls is a great lunch spot for ham or turkey sandwiches. I am a meat eater but the veggie pita is great as well. This is only available for lunch tho.

AK is a tough spot for a meal we usually do Flame Tree, but it is just avg bbq, not bad for Disney tho.

We did Sci-Fi last time we were there, I have been trying for it again though. I'm just trying to plan in case I don't get a ADR anywhere before we leave.

Where is Yak & Yeti? I'll have to look that one up, to read the menu

I love the sandwich at the pizza place in AK and I enjoy Flame Tree. Being southern raised I am picky about BBQ. I will say it is not the real thing but it is the best BBQ in a Disney CS. I tried ordering the BBQ sandwich at Peco Bills I think, thinking it was the same and it was not which greatly surprised me.

At Disney Studios I am honestly not fond of any of the CS places but I truely hate the menu at ABC Com. In a pinch I will go to the Pizza Planet even though I am so not fond of those personal pizzas sold in all of the disney CS pizza places. I tried to jump parks out of desperation once and ended up with low blood sugar by the time I got to food so I always plan ahead for food at DHS

We like the Rainforest Cafe at AK. Large and varied menu --- really fun theming. It's also always nice and cool inside.

If you call from a Disney Property or if your vacation is in 7 days or less they will try to find you a reservation. We have really lucked on this over the years... We got a Crystal Palace dinner reservation calling from the park for the same evening!!!

You can also try to walk up. We were able to at a few spots, and I saw others doing it. This was even when the reservations had told us the restaurant (Kona for us) was full.

Anyway, we were there in early August. We had very nice dinners at Tusker House and Brown Derby.

We had nice lunches at 50s Prime Time and Studio Catering Company in DHS.

Last year, we liked our dinner at Mama Melrose too.

While I know we could TRY I also know that while we're there during FREE DINING it's more likely NOT to happen.
